How To Go About Restoring Aluminum Wheels?

The '95 I have came with a set of old center line wheels on it that aren't in terrible shape and I'd like to clean them up as much as possible. I don't want to paint them or anything like that, just keep the polished aluminum look but they have some corrosion/pitting and I don't know what the...

'92 C1500 4.3L 5 speed. Unable to shift with engine running.

Well the truck is finally good to go so figured I'd make an update. I swapped out the friction disc and pressure plate with some low mileage replacements, new release bearing, new pilot bushing, and I'm just gonna pretend I didn't actually see what kind of shape the flywheel is in. I also...

NV3500 rebuild clutch and parts recommendation please

If you're going for a basic OE equivelent clutch that doesn't break the bank I'd just grab the standard LuK RepSet off of rockauto. If I remember correctly it was in the neighborhood of $90-$100 last time I bought one. So far I have zero complaints with them, they hold up well even if you tow a...

'92 C1500 4.3L 5 speed. Unable to shift with engine running.

Story of my life, man. It's been torn apart in my driveway a week now, once I have all the parts it's just a couple hours work to bolt the trans back in place and whatnot but i still need to go get the stuff. Currently waiting for a check to clear so I have the money to do so but it's taking...

'92 C1500 4.3L 5 speed. Unable to shift with engine running.

I'm gonna re-use a different clutch assembly. I put it in brand new, put ~1,000 miles on it and ended up scrapping the truck but I pulled the trans beforehand. I paid $400 for this truck wrecked and don't plan on driving it long so I figured I'd try and save a little bread if I can. As for the...

    95 wiring harness interchangeablility?

I would think you'll be just fine as long as you use the modules that were originally in the manual truck. Whatever extra wires/connectors you have in the auto harness can be traced and removed altogether or just cut them wherever and tuck the ends inside the loom. All the non-engine/trans...

'92 C1500 4.3L 5 speed. Unable to shift with engine running.

Of course. I certainly don't like getting to the end of a thread just to be left hanging so I'll keep you's updated. I was going to order the few parts I need off rockauto but they wouldn't arrive until Thursday so I'll probably just pay a little extra and pick up a TOB, output shaft seal and...

'92 C1500 4.3L 5 speed. Unable to shift with engine running.

No I get what you're saying, I just don't plan on driving this one any more than a couple months so I'll take my chances with it. Some may look at it like that, I'm not the one who would do the inspection so it's no risk for me personally. I just steer those in need where they want to go...

'92 C1500 4.3L 5 speed. Unable to shift with engine running.

Yeah I've never had issues with the friction disc getting wet with oil from the engine leaking. Every truck I've owned has puked oil from one place or another at some point and it never caused problems like this before. Even when the rear main/oil pan was where the leak was. Regardless, if I use...

'92 C1500 4.3L 5 speed. Unable to shift with engine running.

Yeah it is a bit wet, the oil pan definitely leaks as well but I'm not to keen on putting any money into this truck that I don't have to. I bought this thing for $400 to use temporarily until I finish putting my '95 together. Previous owner hit a deer with this one (the '92) at ~70mph on I-380...

I like the way you think. Unfortunately gas is $5/gal and I'm already broke daily driving my Volkswagen.

That makes sense. Guess it would give me an excuse to yank the 4.3 out and add two more cylinders.

I look at it the same way, I always replace the flywheel and the one in the truck now has some pretty significant hotspots. I have a complete clutch kit and flywheel laying around that was installed in my old truck that has right around 1,000 miles on it. I was thinking about using that...

Well here's a few pictures of the inside of my bellhousing, would you say this is excessive? I'd say so, personally.

    Mouse Nest

For future reference if you ever have to leave a vehicle sit for an extended period and are worried about mice, load the interior with dryer sheets. I don't know what it is exactly but mice don't like dryer sheets.
