Yes,those are the best years,they have the good (P) fuel pump. Very easy to make 300 + hp with just doing simple things to the fuel injection pump and that about 900ft lb of torque.
The starter is off a 6.0 ford powerstroke.

It was easy for me,never removed the core support,only pulled the diesel out once to cut some material off the trucks engine mount bracket.There are tons of info on the web for these swaps.
