Hi Folks,
Thanks to ProshowZ71 I have a nice set of new tow mirrors on my 99 but I trying to get the shake out of the top mirrors and trying to get the passenger upper mirror to rotate farther inward or somehow reindex the whole assembly to rotate in closer to the truck. I am 5-8 and the passenger mirror points away from the truck for me, unless I lean way back. Any suggestions for the shaking and passenger alignment would be most welcome. Cheers, Mark

I couldn't get passengers side adjusted where I wanted either upon first installing mine. While installing I felt it necessary to put a grommet in the hole for wires to mirror, which was to blame. If you put a grommet, then take it out, or maybe the wires themselves got caught in between the mount of mirror and panel on door prohibiting it from sitting as flush as it needs too...? I'm 5'8" too btw.

As far as the shaking, that's not at all uncommon and a widely accepted characteristic among these. I have some scraps of dynomat I was going to try, buy haven't gotten around to it yet. Also thought maybe putting a layer or two if electrical tape on three 3 tangs that attach mirror to housing might calm them down some.

If you find a solution (or one of these mentioned) that works, be sure to share!

I was hoping to figure out a way to change the detent/indexed position so the support assembly in the open position would not swing out as far and be closer to the door which would improve my view with the passenger mirror. As for the shaking, I need to read and think about that some more. Cheers, Mark

You go to OSUIT don't you? I'd recognize those crappy dorms anywhere :puke:

For the mirror vibrating, I've seen guys take the OEM extensions and swap them to the GMT400 bases; mainly with the GMT800 style mirrors though.
Seems pretty pricey to do though as the K2XX mirrors run about $450 a set, so maybe adding in some sort of bushing or some sort of stabilizer to the door bolts could yield results? I know some of the GMT800 reproduction tows have a little tab in the back of the top glass that can be gently bent forward and it relieves some of the shakiness,

I know it sounds silly but if it would fix the issues, I'd pay that kind of cash but I have heard/read the factory ones do the same thing....

I've only dealt with the K2XX mirrors two times, both times being the same truck, but different terrains; first time was gravel, and while the rest of the truck shuddered over bumps, the glass stayed still for the most part, a little bit of minor vibration, but hell, it was washboard gravel roads at 40 miles an hour, everything shakes over that!
They were rock solid on the interstate as well, 75 MPH and no vibrations.

It'd be a costly experiment, but I've seriously kicked around the idea of swapping the OEM housing onto the GMT400 bases;

Hey folks,
A favour to ask. Is there schematics on these K2xx style mirrors somewhere?
I am seriously considering chasing a used set of factory mirrors and grafting them on to my existing supports after seeing how stable the upper mirror glass is on a buddy of mine's 2017 duramax.
Thanks
Mark

Hello folks,
Would someone point me to where I can learn how to dismantle these k2xx mirrors - for ***** n giggles I am going to try to shim the motor assembly to correct/pull the view inboard on the passenger mirror and maybe try to dampen the loose glass while I am in there.
Cheers
Mark
