At the end of the day, why does it matter if light goes where it's not supposed to go? Seems to me not blinding oncoming traffic is it. If in 6 years I haven't been flashed then they can't be that bad. Not super objective criteria, but good enough for me. I flash people when they're too bright, I expect the same from them.

Expecting things from the general public at all is part of the issue. Your eyes and the eyes of the public are not scientific instruments. This is part of the reason DOT certs on headlamps exist. Read the thread sometime.

I'm not arguing the superiority of projectors. I am arguing that what I have is good enough. It's a helluva lot beighter than stock and if nobody cares to flash me to tell me they're too much then **** 'em. If I were flashed at all I'd put more thought into it.

The "general public" has been trained by a decade of dipshiits who drive around with fog lamps, and their low-beams--four friggin' headlights in-town, with oncoming traffic. This on top of two decades of GM Arrogance in regard to Damned Daytime Running Lights (DDRL) which has NO scientific basis. There is not one science-based study conducted in North America and which has survived a peer-review process looking for errors and bias. The junk-science "studies" that "prove" DDRLs improve safety are 1) almost universally from high-latitude Socialist Baltic countries, where daylight isn't as bright as in the Lower 49 States, and government intrusion is welcomed, and 2) they were never peer-reviewed.

I contacted GM asking for science-based information that justified their DDRLs. They sent me press releases instead!

A guy could burn-out his brights flashing everyone who deserved it. I suspect most folks just don't bother any more, because the four-headlight morons are growing more numerous.

I've complained on various forums, and what I hear in response is kids who think turning on the fog lights is a STYLING TREATMENT that makes their car LOOK COOL. They have zero consideration of other motorists.

There's simply no end to the stupidity of average people.

Y'know what I learned last week? The amber-colored lenses do a great job of cutting headlight glare and sharpening-up my vision. They're cheap Big-Box-Store safety glasses, not even a prescription lens. I paid less than $10 for 'em. The only "downside" to them is that while red lights are still red, and yellow lights are still yellow, green lights look kinda blue.

Haven’t done this mod yet but I did install the HD harness from LMC first before I do this mod. I pulled my fuse for the DRLs and everything is as it should be. Yesterday I noticed that the indicator on the dash was on. Puzzled me because I’m certain after I pulled the fuse it went away. In fact it turns off when you turn the headlights on. Why is it illuminating with the fuse pulled?

my diode has been blown for like 15 years and the light is always on.... until i took the bulb out because i think its a stupid indicator. i dont even understand its purpose. to remind you after its dark that you dont have the running lights on? i usually figure it out when i cant read the dash anymore

I have removed the diode deal and the fuse and it never did turn off my DRL indicator, even though YT videos said it would. Just pulled my bezel and stuff off to get the cluster removed and just pulled the light and socket out of there for the DRL indicator, installed the cluster, no more indicator. It is a pretty annoying indeed, especially if you removed the DRL function. I am always afraid I will break something though, so be a little careful when doing the bezel removal as these trucks are getting old and their plastic is getting brittle. :) Already broke my first two bezels, on my third one now, lol.

Well I can say on the highway at night I don’t give a **** who doesnt like my bright lighting....I care more about watching for deer jumping across the road that who thinks my lights are too much/bright. I dont blind oncoming traffic, but my beam patterns extend at least 75 feet in front of me and damn near 180 degrees to the sides lol!

The problem is nobody gives a **** about the other guy. This is the recurring theme anywhere I go, no matter the issue. Each person finds whatever reason they need to justify their actions. "**** 'em cause _____!" or "They should/shouldn't ______ because I do!" or whatever their damn reason is. The world according them. Only trouble is, 98% of the population has the same idea. The word "Compromise" is all but forgotten.

You guys dont get the entire picture here-I run projector style housings with a flat horizon cut-off line which doesnt affect traffic in other lanes. And yep-I’ll be “that guy” who doesnt nail a deer in the road! Just dont look at peoples damn headlights lol-its the same reason I dont stare at the sun-it’s bright!
