Haha. I was just thinking. I have the g80 in the rear. So I don't think two different size tires back there would work out well . Would have to swap tires so the spare would be on the front

Typically not recommended to run an off size spare in any situation. It can cause serious problems, especially on a 4x4 truck. Best bet would be to installed a tire carrier in the bed and use locking wheel nuts to secure the spare wheel - this should help deter thieves and also provide a function spare.

The only problem with that is I still need to use my bed. I really can't have a tire taking up a 3rd of my bed.

A 3rd of your bed? Are you running 40" military tires? Your loss of bed space would be minimal. You'd mount it to the side of the bed or the front, in the upright position.
You're right. I was thinking of those prerunner style mounts where it's mounted at an angle in the front center of the bed. Didn't even think of mounting it to the side like you said. That might work pretty good.

Negative, as I don't run one. You could probably fab one up pretty easy to fit down the bed stake - then it's removable if you do need that extra bit of bed space for some reason.
That's a really good idea. I can't weld but I got a buddy who could most likely do it for cheap if I cut up all the
parts

I read on here a guy (dang it don't remember his name, he's got a blue-sky blue two tone '95, Dylan I think) he bolted his spare to the side of his truck's bed on the inside, like a Burb would do similarly, that's something you could check into if you get a larger tire. Doesn't take up much bed space. :)

I slashed a tire out in the woods this fall and I had to limp home with the 15" spare (original tire from '96). 12 miles of muddy dirt road then 70 miles of freeway. Fortunately I didn't have to use 4x4 but anyhow nothing broke. Steering was definitely wonky. I asked the tire guy about a full sized 265/65/18 spare but I was turned off by the price. 18" is an odd size it turns out. He was able to look up a 15" that would have the same outside diameter as my current tires and still fit in the wheel wells. I don't think I would run this setup in 4x4 but it would still be a better option than using a wildly mismatched wheel.
Mounting a spare upright in a pickup bed works well but you might not have room if you have a toolbox and a short bed. If you have a push bar in front you could fab a wheel mount there instead.
