I realized I probably should've picked a better name than Bowtie Brody, mainly because my first truck was a 97 GMC Suburban that served me faithfully for almost a year and about 12,500 miles totally from August 15th to April 1,

I loved the Burb, but it let me down a few times, and it let me down badly. Blown radiator on the hottest day of the month, T-case lost a snap ring, bound up, shredded a gear and left me stranded one morning, and the resulting strain from that chewed up my rear planetary in the trans; all the leaks I've chased have just left a bad taste in my mouth, it might stick around, if it does I'll fix the leaks and my little brother can DD it, but in the mean time I needed something reliable, something economic.

And as many of you also know, I've searched high and low for a new truck, found a few, but nothing ever worked out.
Until this one, it popped up on CL one night around 10:00, I messaged the guy and he said to text him in the morning, asked all the important questions, went and looked at it, drove it home the hour and let it sit until I got tags for it.

It's been an awesome driver, going from a high mile, run hard, wore out 350 to a lower miled, babied 454 is a night and day difference, it does need a few things though; injectors and basic servicing, fluids and whatnot,

The Suburban, awaiting it's fate; whatever it may be,

Just recently pulled out the crappy train horns and loud speaker mounted by one of the PO's, threw in one of my restored underhood storage boxes, new headunit and speakers, and LEDs in the footwell and door lights. It was about 80% stock when I got it, wheels and exhaust are aftermarket and that's it.

Going to order injectors and an FPR from FiveO motorsports next week, it'll get new lower intake gasket, cap/rotor, plug wires, coil and ICM, MAF, fuel and air filter once I get injectors done, there's still a ton of other maintenance I want to get done before any other serious mods.
Comments and suggestions welcome!

Now of I can find a crew cab like that... what kind of fuel mileage do the 454s get?

Throw that gas guzzling 454 in a boat, get yourself a LQ4 and put a cam in it with some long tubes and a tune. When I put my 6.0 in my 98 ecsb it was like a whole new truck! I could go on and on about mods you should do but unfortunately money is a precious commodity these days, so stick with stock until you can do it right

PY0s, 285s, tows, and tint, also lose the steps lol

Steps do need to go, and I'm thinking either BFG A/Ts or Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx in 285 on a PYO, or 265 Goodyear Authority on an H2 rim, or just Nitto Trail Graps on these rims, tow mirrors coming after I get all the maintenance done!

Nice looking truck!

Thanks! It's borderline my dream truck,

Great find man! Good looking truck!

Thanks! I'm getting about 12 now, it'll go up as I tune everything up I hope. There was a pewter 454 CCSB for sale in Wilmington but I guess it sold, the guy was asking 12,500 for it!

I'm really not a big fan of LS swaps, plans for this thing are a Black Bear tune, headers, and a shift-kit short term, and long term is cam, bore it out .30 over, roller rockers, and a 411 PCM,

Right on! Nice truck! I love me some 454 vortec action. One thing g it's missing, a 5 speed.

I just checked the MPGs on my 98 454 and managed a whole 12.2! Best I've gotten yet

I must have good luck, my mileage around here has been 11-12 MPG, I drove it home an hour and got 14 MPG!

Wow, I always assumed 454s would get less than what I'm at now, may have to get one! I met a pewter ccsb with gmt800 style tow mirrors on my way to chuch this morning. I've never seen it around before, gotta find out where it lives lol.
