It has went well. Everything works as it should even the later model Corvette clock spring fits like the stock one did. Gotta love GM and their compatibility. I encourage anyone looking to swap wheels that have button functions to check into different clock springs besides the rare Denali ones which are VERY expensive. I do believe that this mod will work for several different steering wheels, even the late model 2000 and up. (my second choice) It was well worth the investment to get rid of the bent and chewed up wheel that I had and to keep a wheel that looks like it belongs.
I had to do some creative repairs to the plastic column shroud. Someone replaced the ignition and some screw bungs got broke in the process Its probably pretty typical. I need to replace the rubber turn indicator seal boot and shifter seal boot.. Finding them has been a CHALLENGE.
This is what I wanted overall from this project. The wheel to look sportier, is smaller, leather covered, but yet still keep the square-ish shape that the stock column has. I'm very happy with the results.
Now I just have to situate the horn wiring and the wheel can be bolted down and the bag put into place.
