Hello,

i got lucky and scored a brand new 1991 454 SS cluster only to discover its not a direct swap for my 92. has anyone tried to convert down? I did the searchs and it seems everyone swaps from older to new, not newer to to older. I went to the junk yard and pulled out 2 1990 gauge connectors w/ wires but I now need to figure out how to make the swap.

ideally i would like to build a pigtail connector of some sort rather than hack up my factory dash but i dont know if thats feasable.

has anyone done a reverse swap?

also where can i get the tool to remove the pins on the male connector of the 1991?

thank you

Why wouldn't you just use a 92 cluster with tach?, they are a dime a dozen, I might be interested in that 91 cluster if you decide to sell it.

Found this link when I did mine I went from a 1990 Moonies to a 1991 needle works great

Thanks TX. Will take a look. i will have to see if the DRAC comes in to play with this since the 88-91 are internal and the 92+ are extrnal, may be able to just bypass that wire all together. I bought a factory wiring diagram for the 91 that arrives today so I will see if any of this is even possible.

thx

prob wanted the 120 speedo
SS clusters go to 110 with a 6k tach. Your thinking of Z71/Limited Tahoe or Denali/Escalade in the later years.

Yeah you will need to remove your DRAC since the new one is built in. Too bad I didn't have a good harness to put back in my truck I could swap my 92 454SS cluster for your 91 and we'd both be plug and play.
