i mean with todays tech im amazed people are still using the black boxes. considering how easy the 0411 swap is and how you can vin swap off ls droid and such and all the free tuning software im amazed they kept doing black box ecms

The thing that keeps me from doing a 411 swap is this - I use this truck often and hard while pulling a medium sized camper, daily driver, and woods work pulling on stumps etc.. This truck needs to function in 100 F in the summer, and -30 F in the winter. It has to run on 87 octane fuel. It does all of this with minimal problems. This isn't my toy or a project that rarely gets used - this truck has to work. I get beat up racing and practicing to race. When I get in this thing and hit the key, the muthfucka needs to do its job without giving me a headache.

Most that I see who have 411 swapped (other than supercharged) use their trucks very sparingly if at all. Their trucks are just something for them to spend money on/a fun project. They might pull a camper, driving like grandpa an hour or 2 away a few weekends a year. Most are always trying to get that "last" issue resolved. Most are very quick to talk up their 1/2 done modification. Finish it up. Abuse it. Test it. Then talk. Thanks.

Maybe there are 411 swap people who do similar stuff as me, and they just don't post often? Maybe not...

Agree with letitsnow, especially with the 454 it doesn't seem to be a strait forward swap.

When i had the 0411 on my old engine after a in person tune it was working perfect.
Last weekend i put the 0411 back in with the new engine. It runs a lot better than the old black box for sure but i still have a couple little issues that i need to figure out.

Even if I had bought hp tuners instead of having a blackbear tune, I'd have just used it to tune my blackbox. I've had (12 now?) trucks that came from the factory with the 411, and none of them impressed me.

I just found this on their website on the FAQs page:

"Is there a charge for tune updates?"

"The tune update service is free of charge for the first year after the tune purchase, other than any shipping fees and PCM deposits. After the first year, there will be a minimum fee of $40. That fee may increase if the modifications require a lot of adjustments to the initial tune."

That is unfortunate, but nice that they at least still offer free updates/alterations within the first year.

That’s the new policy right? No mention of existing customer’s?
