yes I helped him pick parts for a rebuild he did not get a 383 he got a 357

454 turbo sounds fun I think twin turbo would be even better if the funding is there
haha its all in the packaging really. Twins takes up a fair amount of room and you have 2 down pipes to deal with. Ive always done single turbo sized for the truck and no complaints.

I had thought that pulling/towing/hauling in OD was one of the worst thing you could do to an automatic and leads to early failure and you should not do it unless you absolutely have to
On a 4L60E yes i wouldnt use 4th for much more than just driving.
4L80E can handle it no problem. If you have the right size cooler and the trans temps stay normal it will be fine.
In my old 6.0/75mm turbo truck i use to tow way more than the truck was rated for put 330,000 miles on that dude. The transmission is still in good shape after all them years. It ran high 11s in the 1/4 mile and id tow ever weekend with it.

its obnoxious to ride around and tune.
yeah I have to agree I like a nice deep throaty rumble snarel roar gral tone that is loud enough that you can if you are not blasting the radio or talking but some things are just too loud I guess at 30 I am starting to get old

Oh i get folks wanting that all the time and its obnoxious to ride around and tune.
This is more off topic, but do you have experience trying to keep a single turbo bbc quiet but still have a decent flow exhaust? About to start putting a single on a 488. Was thinking of splitting to duals and running two stock 07 HD truck mufflers

So my next adventure will be keeping my turbo 370" quiet in my 2500hd when I get the engine done.
Don't worry about the stock mufflers. They are huge.

After doing exhaust on turbo trucks for years I'm going to try this.

S475/96 turbo
4" down pipe,
Single 4" to dual 3",
Dual 3" dynomax mufflers 17235,
Dual 3" to single 4",
4" tail pipe

My last setup on my '91 with turbo 5.3 was 4" all the way out with a 4" diesel muffler and it was quiet but very deep and had a turn down at the Roll pan. It was ok but I want really quiet in my 2500hd so if that setup doesnt work how i want. Ill add Vibrant Resonator before each muffler. I think they are 17960 part number

I tried a set of diesel Walker Quiet-Flow mufflers on the tahoe, and they are far from quiet. Added extra resonator and additional high flow muffler per side just to get sound where can talk inside while driving. But it is NA motor. On a twin turbo v6 I tried to rely a bit on turbos to reduce noise and went with just a high flow borla and it turned out louder than what I was looking for. Eventually I will get it right, hoping Burban will be it.
