I really didn't like the "West Coast" style mirrors and I had a set of the cheap Amazon tow mirrors so on they went. I have a really hard time getting the lower nuts on because my fingers are short so I bought coupling nuts and it definitely helped.

I didn't care about the doors because we won't be using them so we used a jack and a piece of firewood to do a precision adjustment and now they close perfectly. I absolutely DO NOT recommend doing this on anything of value. Just replace the door pins and bushings.

This definitely isn't like Derek's stuff but the truck has been sitting since 2020 when he couldn't get it smogged. He was blown away when I told him that I had to put it on the freeway and drive it 400+ miles home.

Yeah that is a Vise Grippy thing to do, like when he bought some land yacht that wouldn't make it back under its own power so he bought a square body, rented a trailer, and towed it home.

These somewhat rambling posts are to have a log of information such as the following. I measured the distance from the front of the bed to the back of the suspension mounts which is also where the rear fuel tank stops and I came up with 9'. Unless I feel like moving the axle and fuel tank (it wouldn't be hard) then an 8' bed isn't happening.

That's not a bad thing. More wheelbase more better with an ass heavy camper.
True except for turning circle. My current concern is that the truck is 23' long including the liftgate and we're going to be adding another 3'. That is a butt ton of truck! I believe that we'll most likely do a 9' bed and keep the wheelbase (should be 190ish) and without the camper the truck will be about 22'.

What kind of steering box/angle did the HDs get? My friend's newer F450 turns on a dime.
It turns decent now but there are several drive throughs that it wouldn't make. Adding 3' of wheelbase and F550 axles
could be interesting.

I tried to find turning radius specs on the HD vs 05+ F550 but Google has turned into a b¡tch who has become a giant Facebook marketplace trying to sell me cr@p that I'm not looking for.
