Even the top of the hitch was fine. Just the lower part was rusty. That's why I thought it was dunked a few times, but he kept the bumper out of the water.

The tell is that the u-bolt plates on the rear axle aren't looking very fresh. But everything above the plates is fine.

Got some work done on the truck.
Pulled off the janky fifth wheel and the rusty original rear hitch.
Installed a Class 5 Curt Hitch, #15325.

So rusty there are holes through it. I think it's been dipped into sea water a few times while launching boats.

The prettiness of a brand new hitch.

It's frustrating that manufacturers powder-coat over bare steel without first electroplating it. Moisture will penetrate the powder coating and just rust away behind it untill it all comes peeling off. I had mine sandblasted and zinc coated before repainting it and it still looks like new many years later.

Another day buying parts instead of actually working on the truck. It's still stuck at the shop waiting for the alignment.

Treasure yard purchases today.
A set of Suburban visors with good condition lights. I don't need these so they will go to member caw_86 who can use them as cores for someone else that needs restored visors.

A good condition gray leather passenger seat armrest. Mine is a little blistered, so this will fix it.

A good condition drivers side floor mat to finish the set I bought last week. And a set of TIGHT gray passenger side manual seat rails.

A gloss black tailgate handle from an early truck. It's in great shape. I'm converting my front handles to early glossy handles from the textured handles that the later trucks got. I bought a repro tailgate handle to replace my broken one. But now I'll use this OE glossy handle. I might still use the repro bezel, as this OE bezel is missing a tab.

Snagged an early NBS console bracket to go with the console I put together last week. I'll cut this down and drill the OBS hole pattern in it to make it into an adapter.

A 2006 V8 Express van ECM for the LS swap in my Range Rover. This one has DBC capability and is a good match for the 2006 L33 aluminum engine I'm using.

I also picked up some miscellaneous switches and pigtails to wire the lighting the way I want it to work.

I've got some WTB posts in the classifieds.
I'm looking for some hard to find parts.
A solid, uncracked, gray 1997+ dashboard
A horizontal "FOG" switch that goes where the 4x4 switch is typically found
And a Police Package "DRL OFF" switch.

If you've got one of these, let me know. I'm not looking for a steal or a deal. I'll pay an appropriate price.

Did a little cleaning today.

The console was so-so. Crap was in all the crevices, collected in the main cavity, and a little in the cupholders. The rubber inserts were nasty.

The pieced together set of floor mats were greasy, hairy, stained, sunburnt, and full of animal excrement.

I started with the 409, but switched to Purple Power and a stiff scrub brush pretty quick.
Most of it came off, but the passenger side is still a little sunburnt.

Yep that passenger side mat looks like the one in Rawhide (my CCLB). Driver's side was replaced with a heavy mat that looks like a weather tech knockoff. I'll probably end up replacing both with a new pair and put the driver's side one in the Burb. I have the factory long second row floor mat in both of them, surprisingly.

Oughta be the right color for that kinda bread though!
I could spend $130 on truck parts, but floor mats... Mom would have me sleeping in the truck (it's comfortable but not full time!).
