So I got my license back and drove back to colorado, so I decided to reward this damn fine automobile by fixing my crappy failing bodywork.

I dug out all the filler and got a good look at the evil learking beneath.

I got a lot of work to do to get this all straightened out, I started by putting a metal patch into the front half, and thats how far I got yesterday.

I'll hopefully get the rest of the metal work done today.

So I got the metal work done, smeared a coat of duraglass over the welds, and primed it (I'm going to epoxy prime on Monday)

I might pick up some rear doors this weekend and get the truck looking real nice. I hope to have it painted by the end of the week, but that might not happen.

I really lucked out at the junkyard today with two mint doors the same color.

One of them has a bit of patina starting but I'm not going to worry about it right now (I'd paint them while doing the quarter, but the school is only covering enough paint for one panel, so any other paint would be coming out of my pocket.

After 2 days of struggling/********, I got one of the new doors on.

I ended up cutting the pins and drilling them out. I then drilled out the holes to 3/8 and installed grade 8 bolts with long shoulders.

It could have ordered new pins, but the bolts allow me to be able to take the doors off again if I have to. Also the hinges have zero play if you were wondering.

Just one more door to go, then I can get back to work on the quarter.

So I decided to try to get this quarter knocked out today instead of doing the other door.

I got it reasonably straight, but it definitely needs more work.

I also polished up the door a bit, and I'm now thinking I should probably paint them.

The most crazy thing ever just happened.

So I shut my new rear door and for kicks I decided to try my key in the lock, AND IT WORKED!!!

What are the chances of that? Seriously, how many different key variations did they have for '95 and up trucks?

That is pretty cool about the keys!
Where did you get the auxiliary flashing lights on the rear pillars? I'm thinking about something similar on my Burb, for when I have to be parked, loading and unloading in the street.

Remember when I traded this Burb for an '86 Burb? Well in the time the guy owned it, that was a mod he did as he told me the stock brake lights wern't working despite the fact they seem to work now.

So I'm basically saying that I don't know.
