Will be keeping up with updates a little more now that the truck is home. Working on stripping the cab right now which by the way, is even worse the more I go... I've bought ratted out vehicles but this takes the cake, I honestly don't think i'll use a single interior piece from this cab, it's saturated with mouse smell and just disgusting that I won't waste my time. Plus I want burgundy anyway. Going to use the heater box out of my other parts rig too, found 8 dead mice total plus crap everywhere, not even going to bother.... So basically I bought the truck for the frame and axles at this point lol.

Yeah luckily this wasn't one of those like "grandpa bought new", just some random truck I drug home, so i'll do whatever it takes to save time/money, and this cab would take forever to make right. It kinda sucks I bought all the patch panel stuff but oh well, plenty of people looking for that stuff.
Yeah sadly I had a cab from a “my dad bought it when I was a kid” trucks.
He didn’t get it new but the roof had a terrible patch and it causes the truck to rust from the inside out. The headliner covered all the water damage that was happening so we had no idea.
Once I seen the roof and the whole bottom was destroyed I swapped it.
Frames still the same tho! Lol.

Don't give up! It helps if you wait until the dead of winter to clean it out. On a 30°F day Roscoe didn't even smell that bad. Once I trashed the interior and pulled the dash I sanded, primed, and painted the cab and it doesn't stink at all.

That's a full foot of mouse poo in the pic below.

After. I do have a few rust spots I need to patch.

Impressive! If it wasn't for the ridiculous amount of rust I would push through the mice issue but it's just not worth it in this case. My 88 Trans Am was about that bad when I bought it out of a field but it had good bones otherwise, was definitely a chore to get rid of all traces of mice though. But you're right, these 90+ degree days are not helping me at all... makes that smell extra ripe lol.

Made a 2 hour road trip friday to grab the new cab. Was pretty much what I expected and then some, was expecting it to be completely gutted but pretty much only the seats and rear window were missing. Someone bought all except the rear passenger door so I snagged that as well. Interior was trashed from sitting open for awhile but that's okay as I was planning on red interior anyway. Best part is this is a diesel cab so having that interior harness will help with my swap. Only thing this cab doesn't have that my original does is rear defog and the compass mirror, easy enough to add.

Could not get over the rockers and cab corners on this thing... this just doesn't exist around here. Only damage I see is something hit the drivers cab corner and rocker and also has some holes drilled for steps at one point. All easily fixed without disturbing original metal. Other than that, some sun damage to the roof so that will probably need to go to metal and since it sat without doors for awhile, the carpet had been wet for sometime so paint was bubbled up on the floor. No holes or major pitting though so that's good, I just started scraping the loose paint and it all looked good.

Got it mostly gutted yesterday so now I need to get my white cab gutted completely, get it off the frame and out of here, then i'll set my red cab on a homemade cart my uncle built and keep it off to the side for the time being so I can get a test fit on the engine/trans, THEN strip the frame and get that over to the sand blaster. Want to get a rolling chassis done as soon as I can, that will make it seem like the project is actually moving ahead lol.
