Which SB was used in the mid-70s Monza? It wasn’t a 350, but it should have been.
Buick V6 231 (3.8) & 262 (4.3), Chevy 305 & (later years) 350.
A 3 spd. auto, 4 & 5 speed sticks. With any engine.
Couple of 4-bangers. IIRC, they even used the Iron Duke.

What’s with the upside-down air cleaner cover???
Tall filter. Short stud.

My father owned a 1995 K1500 TBI 5.7 4L60e and that truck’s engine combo drove very nicely, better than my 1998 L31 Suburban. Very satisfying throttle response in the lower RPM range.

Following up on my earlier post (quoted above):

I'm looking forward to trying the tuning mods noted here (link below), on my 1998 L31, perhaps the engine will then respond as well as Dad's 1995 K1500 5.7L TBI.

I have never understood why my L31 was so gutless upon throttle tip-in, but after reviewing what others (@kylenautique, @Supercharged111) reported below about "torque management" and "abuse mode", I believe I know the reason.

- See various posts in thread 'Towing with 33” tires versus 35” tires' regarding re-tuning the abuse and torque management parameters

Update: No more wrenching on the Wife's Jeep. We are throwing in the towel on this one. It's just too far gone. I have one more vehicle to get out of my driveway, and one I've been trying to sell for MONTHS now. I can feel my stress levels decreasing already.

The only thing that sucks is that the 3.7L V6 in that Jeep still runs strong at only 150K. The body, transmission, and suspension are all beyond saving.

Also, I'm taking a few days off from wrenching.

Next: I need a drop-in crate motor for my RCSB.

What year is the jeep? Isn't the 3.7 a newish engine? Is it rusting to bits?

It's an 03. Production on the 3.7L ran from 01 to 07..... same as the Liberty models they were put in. Then, the newer version of a Liberty - a Jeep Patriot - has an updated version of the 3.7L. Physically they look near identical. Don't know about the internals, but both 3.7L's are gas guzzlers.

They are also known for popping rocker arms, leaking oil, and the occasional bad ignition coil.

The chassis on my Wife's Jeep, however, probably won't pass inspection again due to rust. We've had 2 sets of rockers panels put on and it's due for a 3rd. The area above the rear windshield is 75% bondo, 20% rust, and 5% held together by dirt. The rear door jambs (known as dog legs) are completely rotted away. The front suspension has been overhauled once already and it's overdue for another. Same with the rear suspension. Oh, and not to mention the ever-softening brake pedal. It's just not safe to drive anymore and not worth the stroke-inducing stress levels it would take to fix it. BTW, it's an "R" title.

I could go on, but she bought a newer car just recently and has no interest left in the Jeep. The only thing stopping us from calling a wrecker to come get it is the fact that her (the Wife) maiden name is still on the title (so it doesn't match her license). That could cause a problem at the junkyard.

If your wrecker guy can't get rid of a questionable vehicle (let alone something as simple as this) for you, you need a new wrecker guy...

Wow, that sounds terrible. When I've seen badly rusted Jeeps it's usually 90's Wranglers or Cherokees..... maybe I just don't pay that close of attention to the others.

In PA, that's not something simple. Too many laws.
You're not picking up what I'm putting down. We have similar laws in Illinois. Trust me when I tell you that's a simple problem to overcome.
Whaddya wanna bet there are wrecker drivers in your area who know guys at auto recycling yards? And that those guys know EXACTLY when the crusher is gonna run, and who's running it, and what time the trucks will be there to load up the crushed cars, and who's running the loader, and who's driving the trucks?

I would think that would be less of a payout for something that could just be a title change at the dmv before hand.
