Well after 2 weeks with new parts I’m still really impressed with front end. Between that, new tires and all new suspension last summer I’ve got it just the way I want it.

Just curious, how does brand new everything in 25 year old truck compare to say a GMT800/900 era truck?!

Realize they're different animals but I am genuinely curious as I've never experienced my truck (in sig) with tight(er), more responsive steering/driving experience.

They are different animals. Mine only has 60k plus so everyone’s experience could be different. My steering box is still fine along with other components. A 300k truck would obviously benefit with new parts, but I can’t say to what degree yours would. I got rid of my 2018 Z71 last year after getting this and have zero regrets. To try and answer your question though, I can only say this truck has no play period, it feels tighter than the Z71, not to say that had any play which it didn’t.

That's incredible. My blazer has a ton of slop in the steering, even after swapping to the 2500 shaft.

What's the difference between the 1500 and the 2500 shafts?

There's a C3500HD shaft with a U-joint instead of a rag joint, but only works on '88--94 trucks. The 95--newer have geometry issues.

That's the one I meant.

How about replacing the shaft, and ADJUSTING the two items on the steering gear?

Wild Guess: Correctly adjusting an OEM steering box gets you better results than a production-line "rebuilt" box; costs nothing but your time and enough PS fluid to flush the old stuff out.
