@kennythewelder does your truck have 275/60r15s? I'm trying to gauge how my 97 will look if I do a 2" shackle drop.
Yes, it does not only did I drop the back 2 inches, but I also have about 200 lbs of steel bar welded to the receiver hitch, so Im sure that drops the back a little. 1 bar is welded under the hitch, and the 9ther bar is welded to the back of the hitch. Each bar is about 100 LBS. I did this for traction, before I rebuilt the rear end, and installed the Eaton trutrack, and 373 gears. I have never had an issue with the tires rubbing.

I was just thinking about starting a thread about 275/60R15s rubbing with stock 15X7 rims. Mine do when I lock the steering wheel either way. They rub directly above the UCA, it doesn't hurt anything but, they do make noise. I'm not sure if it's caused by the sagging coils or what. The new alignment didn't change anything and, I have ~7" shackles (bolt to bolt) with 3/1 leafs on the rear to level the truck. Does anyone have the same issue? FYI - 88 C1500, 5.7L

Sorry for the high jack :33:

The only time I had any issues withy tires rubbing, was when the dumb, lazy alignment tech who did my front end alignment, bent the inner fenders, to access the adjustment for the castor. After I figured out what was going on, and I bend the inner finder back where it goes, and the running stopped.

Sweet, I plan on putting 3.73s in mine as well. Eaton Trutrac is also on the list when I have the money. Are you able to break the tires loose fairly easily?

Well, I can spin the tires, but, as for grip, it is a lot better than before. It was a real issue before trying to drive on wet roads. Now it is not. From a dead stop, If I nail the gas, both tires will spin for the first few feet, then it bites, and takes off. With the Corvette survos, it barks a second when it shifts. Keep in mind that I did add 200 LBS of steel bars welded to my receiver hitch. This also helps with grip. I thought hard about going with 410 gears, but my fellow gear heads at the car shows talked me into 373s. It makes for a better HWY vehicle. With the low gear ratio of 1st gear in the 4L60E trans, it launches good off the line. If you are going to do this rebuild, get a crush sleeve eliminator kit. It's a little more work to set up, but if you ever have to pull the yoke again, you don't have to worry about the crush sleeve being unset. The whole thing cost me rite at $1100 last Feb. I changed every bearing and seal in the rear end. It was money well spent.

Oh, and it is much easier to pull the rear end out of the truck and rebuild it on a stand or whatever. I repainted mine, and the $1100 also covered new wheel cylinders. My drums and brake shoes were still in grate shape.

Was hoping for snow, but as usual, we just get ice, and rain.
Care full for what you wish for. This is and old pick. One day I am going to get a Camera that mates (OH no a censored word) with my old laptop.

Pretty sure my front diff is low on oil, gonna have to address that sometime this week; apparently there's another round that could hit next weekend.
