well I dont mean to sound like an a$$hole but it looks like you awnserd your own question...

without a thermostat the engine will NEVER get up to operating temps and therefore the coolant will NEVER get hot enough to blow warm air.

put a thermostat in your truck before you destroy that engine.
Ok, you dont come across as an azzole, no worries. The truck blows warm air, not hot.
I realize dash gauges are crap, but warms up to 160-180 indicated.
Thermostat may be the problem, would be the easy fix, I will try it first.
With this being said, when I drove it the other day, for 9 hours at 2700rpm from Tulsa to Lafayette, I truly believe it was at operating temp and I was not going to destroy anything.
Cheers,

well ya I guess it might not immediately hurt the engine but running it without a thermostat is not good for it at all.

It depends. Normal driving, run a thermostat. I tried it on a track car and kept blowing the radiator hose off, so I gave up and put one back in. You get really unpopular if you keep dumping on track.

Also why screw with the brakes? if they are broken, fix them.

those Eldorado rear disc brakes have no business being on a truck.

fix brakes by RPO codes.

if you want to upgrade your brakes get all of the associated hardware from a better/larger RPO brake system.
That makes sense too! Just figured I’d mention this for those that like to weigh their options. To each their own, especially with cars right? Different styles, different opinions, different budgets, they all come into play!

Good volume of air coming thru vents. No difference w/ air volume using temp control. There is a lot of air being expelled from the blower case toward the firewall ?? Heat just doesnt get hot as anything I have ever owned. AC works great, no engine thermostat, but runs 160-180 all day long.
Yes, you should start with a thermostat with the right rating for the truck. I was once running a 160-degree thermostat and I didn't think the truck ran that well but thought it would from things you read online. I put the proper 195-degree back in and the truck ran better.

I just assume no thermo as coolant is circulating as soon as starting engine

$10k!! It’s crazy how over time you can put so much money into these things! But it’s still more fun than just buying a new one that looks like what everyone else has.

Don’t get me wrong. I LOVE the look of the new trail bosses! But they seem a dime a dozen around here! And they all look completely stock.

Absolutely they making hefty car payments so only few have extra $$$ to make they’res custom to them lol but it’s still cheaper and long term better to have a 400 because you can actually fix problems yourself vs gotta hook up a scanner for everything on newers! But these have aged great like fine wine! Lol big or small upgrades are able to be done without worry of warranties.
