My steering needs addressed too. Are the 3500s different, or is it just the pumps? Mine has hydroboost.
As for the two legged redheads, the "good" is amazing! The "bad" is nearly unbearable. This one WILL be the death of me. Not murder, but stress/insanity.

does your truck use a saginaw p pump with a shaped different reservoir and 2 returns or does it use a TC/type 2 pump with a remote reservoir

I went through several napa remans. After it messed up my hunting season I got irritated enough to order a redhead gear box and haven’t had issues since. It’s been about a year now. The napa units would last anywhere from 1 month to about 8 months

Napa wasn’t giving me issues on replacing them but I was doing the labor without pay like 4times…….

My redhead box lasted 18k miles when it failed sending metal through my whole steering system. Put it back together with a junkyard box I resealed and pulled my pump to reseal it so I could get the metal out of it, didn't pull my hydroboost, and ended up blowing up a pump from metal that was left in it that went into my pump. So I'm not to happy with Redheads quality control as I had problems with it right out of the box and they told me to run it.

I just recently replaced the steering gear on my 1998 K2500 Suburban with a Redhead unit and couldn't be happier. The Sub has about 123,000 miles on it and I had replaced just about every front end, steering and suspension part but still had sloppy and darting steering. The shop that I use has been in business a long time and is very reputable. The owner told me that ALL of the major parts stores carry steering gears made in the same place in China and he considers them all to be junk, so much so that he will not warranty them because it usually takes 3 or 4 to find a good one.

He suggested a Redhead and it made a world of difference, all the slop was gone. The last piece of the steering puzzle was disconnecting the EVO sensor (waiting on GM bypass kit), which solved the darting I was experiencing.

Redhead shipped the gear very quickly and also was quick to refund my core deposit as soon as they received my old gear. They are more expensive but in my opinion they are worth every penny.

I married a redhead and there is no comparison!

Redhead steering box? They can kiss my ass! Multiple box problems, issues with credit for my core, tried to bill me multiple times for the next 2-3 years even though I had the tracking numbers showing that the core and warranty units were returned. Never again!

Next time will be a Bluetop.
