Anyone have numbers on what an intake manifold swap does for tbi engines?

I had a TBI intake manifold and swapped to a TBI adapter on a Summit dual-plane intake manifold. Unfortunately, the engine was too built for the TBI to handle, so I can't give any comparison info. I dumped the TBI for a Holley Sniper. I run the factory snorkel (with the restriction removed), and with the manifold painted black it looks fairly stock and feeds cool air to the intake.

Manual transmission I'm assuming?

apparently the low rise single plane intakes are the way to go with stock TBI setups. i have an old holley street dominator that I will be trying out on a friends 92 gmc this coming winter or spring. a lot of the thirdgen.org guys did this in the early 2000s... the popular one was the weiand 7525 (has egr). a newer one that is still in production is the edelbrock torker 2

Nah, he's running a 700R4 :33:

That's what I have, and I thought that if you swapped away from the TBI you'd have to come up with a solution for the torque converter lockup. If that's not the case I'm probably ditching the whole mess and going with the edelbrock pro flo

The TCC lock up is easy. apply 12 volts to pin "A" on the transmission connector and the converter locks as long as it's not in 1st gear. There are a bunch of kits. I assume you have a VSS and not a cable?

This one is my favorite for a VSS equipped vehicle.

Not sure what a VSS is, but the throttle and transmission both have cables on them. Truck is a '92. I'm fine with something that does it automatically, but I don't want to have to flip a switch all the time.

Vehicle Speed Sensor. The B&M unit is speed based. The TCC (Torque Convertor Clutch) will lock at any speed you want between about 30 mph to 90 mph just by turning the knob. Set it and forget it or play with the lock up speed all you want.

That one is nice because you can lock the convertor in 3rd gear for towing and keep the trans temp down.

The trans can't lock in 1st gear so even if you lock it up with a toggle switch it won't stall at a traffic light.

That sounds pretty good, I'll do some digging to see if a 92 has one.

Why not just get a TPS for the carb and keep the existing TCC control?

The Pro-flo has a TPS, I'm not sure if we can tap into it or not. I've never had the TCC control explained to me before and I've never really messed with anything with an automatic before, and really nothing GM either. This is my first GM in about 15 years.
