A transfer tube is used on a caliper with pistons on both sides of the rotor (fixed mount caliper) to transfer fluid to and from the outboard pistons.

Many newer calipers have drilled passages that serve the same purpose.

Ignorance can be remedied with education. Never be afraid to ask. Especially here!

I didn't know they still made calipers that needed a transfer tube. I thought the whole world had gone to drilled castings.
Those are Brembo calipers with the logo replaced; GM has several offerings like that (including the crazy 6 piston / 16" front rotor upgrade kits for the newer trucks. $$$$)

That caliper with the transfer tube is a pretty common Brembo unit, used on a whole lot of vehicles. My 300 SRT8 has same or similar on the rear. The thinking behind the design? Who knows; ask a Brembo engineer... might be the best way they came up with for a caliper that also allows quick pad changes at the track. You just knock the pins out and slide the pads, caliper still in place. Guys doing it all the time so they don't roast their street pads in autocross events.

BTW speaking of Brembos, the factory SRT8 setup uses 4 piston Brembos at all 4 corners along with 14"~ rotors, and they pull these 4200lb-4400lb cars down to a stop in a hurry, very admirable performance out of them. I can imagine a well-thought-out setup using similar components on a GMT400 would be a nice upgrade. Gotta think through the whole system though so you pick parts that will work together.

Thanks for the info. I do get that ignorance can be remedied with education "most" of the time. Sometimes I dont like asking questions that can be answered by a quick google search.

All ignorance can be remedied with education, as long as we're willing to listen and learn.
