The 'Burb really needs the 14 bolt, 4L80E, and honestly the 454 too.. :D JMHO

I'd love the big block and related bits, but the 350 sucks gas bad enough in city driving....
And unlike the Denali parts, I don't already have them!

1991 is first year for the 4L80E. 1990 454SS trucks had the TH400 (3L80 in "modern" nomenclature)

I'm wondering about the 454SS rear axle OP got. If it came from a 1990 model it's got 3.73 gears to match the non-OD TH400; if it's from 1992-1993 it has 4.10's to match the 4L80E

Cool project!

Richard

Thanks! To be honest, I don’t know what year the axle came from and I haven’t pulled the cover off yet. Or even unloaded it from the truck lol.

I swapped mine from 3.73 to 3.42 and a Auburn L/S when the original Gov Bomb quit. I hoped it would calm down on the tire spinning with the taller gears. But it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Although the gas mileage went from 10.5 to 14MPG.
Please post a lot of pics as you go along. I'm interested in how yours turns out.

I threw the new front fenders on the truck just to be able to have them stored safely for now. Plus, it’s looking less and less like a parts truck!
