Ok a 5 month update here!!! I just sold my 2018 Z71 and the 96 K1500 is now my daily driver. In the end I love this truck more than my son did so I DID get him a Mustang(V6), he can get a GT later. Planning on doing complete front end rebuild before next winter. Just installed new 2050 lb. leaf springs, intake manifold gasket upgrade and free to me full 3 pc. skid plates.

Thanks! But I still don’t understand because if you look at 1996 Brochure I posted it clearly shows the radio in the truck was the correct radio for a 96’ Silverado. “O” is optional for Cheyenne and “S” standard for Silverado.

That’s not the common stereo for Silverado’s for those years.

Regardless, a fantastic truck!

You’re doing all the right stuff. But have you replaced the fuel filter? If not, put that at the top of your list....seriously, it goes a LONG ways to saving the fuel pump and spider.

I also enthusiastically recommend Mevotech TTX front end parts where available.

I bought the truck from a Chevrolet dealership in Virginia. They put a new fuel pump and filter when I bought it last summer. I’ve also replaced that filter already! I have all the parts for complete front end rebuild. It feels fine but all the boots are gone. Probably do it late fall. Btw- no Carmen:Nonono:

I can’t tell from the photo, but if the radiator has a clamped rubber cap under the expansion tank hose (under the radiator cap), ditch it and look for a silicone cap replacement rated for higher temperatures. An alternative is a piece of heater hose with a bolt and clamp stuck in the end.

The ones that they provide with aftermarket radiators tend to crack after a few months.
