Me too I wish the middle doors were 3inches longer. Kinda like the new burbs

Yeah, I haven't been in one (and like won't for the next 20 years with those pricetags, LOL), but they do seem more spacious; although they are more tailored to the less seating option. Like 2+2+2 seating... The new ones followed the Expedition with the independent rear suspension, with a gain in floor space is what I read. Not sure if that was a good move or not, but it is what it is.

My buddy keeps saying I need to buy me a 2021 Suburban. And I keep telling him I don't have a stash of $90,000+ Canadian Pesos under my mattress. LOL. I'm actually looking for a full size Express passenger van at the moment to fit all the family for long trips. Can't beat the full size vans for space...But we will keep the (2) 800 suburbans we have for soccer mom/dad daily driving.

Realistically I'm gonna get my wife a yukon that seats 8. If I bought a new suburban I would want 9. Gm apparently still sells a 9seater but special order. If the dealer gave me **** then I settle for a 8seater. Suburban base model. Yukon sle or slt. As for the independent rear suspension. I hate it but cant do anything about it , so I'll get over it. As far as space theyve grown. This is the biggest suburban made and biggest tahoe made. That I love but not the price tag. My goal around 60k but who knows....

I'm seeing the new ones around Houston area more the last few weeks. Mainly Burbs and Tahoes, a few Yukon and even a Slade or 2. So someone has deep pockets and good credit LOL. That 06 was a $450 payment every month, and that's a used one in 2013. I can't count high enough to calculate what payments would be on a new one. And would you still have a usable vehicle when done paying for it? My big question with IRS is how will it tow? Coils and a live axle is not so great when shocks and springs are old. And they should be bigger inside; they're all so tall they look like 4x4s next to my Burb (at stock height too!).

Yeah there not towing beast. If I had deep pockets I get the 6.2 but what my wife would need it for 5.3 good enough. We never tow. If we do. I sport the 5.7 anyday. Especially after I throw in a 383 lol. I dont care for the direction there going in and nowdays there a house payment but with having more kids in the future I rather have a full size suv then a midsize. When it comes to safety I'll pay extra for that lol. I think your right though having independent rear suspension makes a weak point in towing. I wish they kept solid axles along with leafs....

No question, Suburban. Had an '88 3/4 ton 454 2wd and stupidly got rid of it. Now have a '94 GMC k1500 with 383. Love the room, Tahoe's are too small, have band equipment to haul around plus RV'ing lots of room for "stuff." Towed with both Burbs, the 383 is a more powerful engine than the 454 was. A stroker engine has more torque for towing, sure can feel it.

If you’re 6’6” and want to sleep in the back, I’d say Suburban is the only way to go. With back seat out and middle folded you have an 8’ enclosed space. I used to use my short bed k1500 pickup for camping in the back, but the Suburban is much handier. If it’s just you, you could only fold one side of the middle seat down. My buddy and I camped in the back of mine for 5 days of late November deer hunting this fall and were quite comfortable.

When I was looking I knew we wanted a Suburban for my wife and I to camp in, but I would get tempted by some Tahoes in great shape. I’m glad we have the Suburban though. Tahoe is already as wide anyway and the Suburban has good visibility for its size.

You're talking about overlanding with it. If you're going to be trying to squeeze through forested areas with tight turns, the Tahoe might be a little bit easier to get through some obstacles. Other than that, Suburban all the way. You'll never wish for less storage space.

Well I am still divided between buying a shorter Yukon/Tahoe or the full length Suburban/XL. Be nice to have a smaller wheel base for off roading, 14" difference (wheel base) and total length difference being 20", the full size is great but for me its only great to sleep in as I dont need all that cargo area.

With the shorter length suv's might have to custom make a a cargo area extension that extends a few feet out beyond the rear bumper. As thats just where the feet will be. I contemplated the Avalanche with its bed pannier but those are expensive, all coils. My idea comes from the Doubleback VW: Slider straight back - http://fancytuning.com/2012/05/vw-t5-transporter-doubleback-is-a-great-idea/

BTW I just watched a TV episode called Motoring '21 and their crew truck was a Tahoe 2nd gen '00-'06 and the mechanic was saying its a great truck, just the Canadian climate rusts them out big time. He ends up fixing a rear brake drum that broke off due to rust. Ontario show but they travel all of North America in that SUV and fly all around the world.

I've been reading up on the V8 Grand Cherokee's and the gas mileage is pretty much the same.
The higher mileage 150k+ 4.7L grand cherokees are a gamble on previous owner taking care of the suv.

12/16 burbs (5.5klb) to 14/19 gc (4,618–5,353 lb)
so 2mpg (0.8km/L) difference

Yea ok I just talked myself into buying the tahoe/yukon.

Next to find out is lift kit for which size tires and power mods.

I haven’t wheeled much in one but I love my 4door Tahoe/Yukon. I have 2, lifted Yukon n lowered Tahoe. I did have a lifted Tahoe years ago with 38” boggers, but only got to wheel it couple times. But the shorter w/b makes it nice in tights spots. But big enough for a comfy ride n room for passengers n cargo. I sold a CCSB that I’ve wanted ever since they came out for a Tahoe. Only thing g I don’t like is how the back windows don’t go down all the way. Understand why, just don’t like it lol.
