While I was fighting the spare tire jack bolt underneath i found a frame crossmember that was rotted really bad.
2 bolts attach to the frame rails in each side. Looks like the fuel tank also uses it for support.
Will be pulling the bed eventually so for now its added to the repair list.

Exhaust rotted off after the cat which is nearly blocked off by a crossmember. Plan is to get a 2 or 3 ft tube and run the exhaust out the pass side before the rear wheel as a temp solution to keep the fumes out of the cab.

^ in the previous photo, that is me pushing the cat up, it is surprisingly heavy.
Was thinking about cutting it off and just running a cheap flowmaster style muffler down stream...would removing the cat mess up any sensors?
It will eventually get long tubes down the road.

Edit: Not sure if this is the cat or actually a resonator of some sort? Eventually she will get proper headers and crossover pipe. For now its solid enough metal (whatever it is) to connect a pipe/muffler and get the exhaust fumes (and some ridiculously loud) noises away from the cab!

Put it this way, if it ain't lit up any warning lights yet with the rest of the exhaust off, I don't think taking the cat out will affect anything, other than help the engine run better and cleaner. Sweet progress on the truck, eagerly waiting for more updates!

Right on! I'm thinking a flared 3in OD pipe about 30 inch long, a 3 inch 40 series muffler or cheap equivalent, and some cheapish misc parts to angle it out the side away from the cab should hold me over for a little while.

Will keep the updates coming!
