Been trying to figure this out for weeks - as well as other parking brake puzzles for my '94 C2500 RWD with 13" Duo-servo brake drums. 155.5 inch wheelbase, extended cab. Semi-Float 14 bolt diff/rear.

ANYONE know what Non-removable Molded Pad Cover AND Removable Rubber Pad Cover means?

is that the rubber casing over top of the cable?
Is it the circular rubber bit on the cable?

WHICH would i want?
How do i deduce what I currently have on truck?

I'M FEELING DUMB!!!!!!!!

I don't know the answer, but didn't they change parking brake pedal designs right about that year? Could they be referring to the pad on the pedal?

Super interesting LEAD!!
hey, maybe that's why I see none of that on LMC-trucks.
https://www.lmctruck.com/1988-98-chevy-gmc/brakes/cd-1988-98-parking-brake-cables-and-components

Great to have some new search ideas.
uhhh, huge thanks of course! TWICE!

UPDATE COMMENT: trying to think how the pad on the pedal (if "pad" is the rubber i put my feet on) would affect the ordering options of a parking brake front cable. (rock-auto)

The removeable non-removable might be the clue.

So, i should go out and see if my parking brake pedal rubber bit is removable?

stumped. only until i get out to truck perhaps.
Interesting as all get-out however!

I looked at a couple trucks I have here, '90 & '96, and they definitely have different pads. The 90 has a pad that slipped over the pedal while the 96 had a pad that appeared to be molded with some metal tabs that go through the pedal and bend over on the back side.

I'm GETTING THERE thanks to the SUPER HELPFUL replies!!!

TOPLINE: clues seem to be the words rubber, and molded at rockauto. (detailed below)

Pretty interesting stuff. GREAT !!!
94 two designs
Still, seems like both pads removable ?

Mine's 94 of course - so figure on the right track for sure...
Havin' a think. I am probably not understanding the images of the pedal pad at the links below.

Reckon i can easily deduce which assembly i have - have to take that slow as they're similar at first look. (links to images blow)

YET, how do i know which one i have (I'm wondering. - removable or non removable.
Cool that RockAuto notes two types for 94 I'm now thinking. (as specified in my first post)

RockAuto (detailed in first post) says:

1) removable RUBBER pad cover
and
2) non-removable MOLDED pad cover.

"Cover" throws me off. Technically I'm still clue-less some. haha.
Guessing "rubber" and "molded" are the clues for the solving it.

LMC-truck links to images of TWO designs for 1994

Yeah-To me, it's definitely about the pad style on the pedal. If you look closely at the pictures though, there are definite differences in the parts so if you take yours off first, that will more or less give you the clue as to what you should order. Hoping that you have the correct part on their to begin with! Gotta love GM-why they kept changing parking brake lever designs is beyond me. My '67 had a hand operated lever, then the 70s had that tiny pedal but even after the pedal, they weren't content with splitting a cable to the rear wheels in many different ways making yet another part number.

JUST AWESOME TO KNOW.
Thanks for the replies!!!!

Yeah, cool that rockauto notes two types for '94 - though i wasn't able to guess what the brief wording meant of course.

Fell over last night so off to garage now:ish.

WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!

now to deduce what the heck's going on with non-working parking brake.

That puzzle for another thread at some point, perhaps.

Having the best time here.... THANKS

gonna update my sig/avatar when the mad busy-ness subsides
