Oh I didn't mean a donkey djck cam, my friend did a 206/212 with a tighter LSA on his LH6 and said he gained torque from an idle to redline. That's how I like to "cam" trucks.

I get where you're coming from. But I'm not sure id call a 228/230 duration cam that big.

Its relatively mild, in my opinion.

The Summit 8712 has a noticeable lope, knowing the factory torque converter supplied with the factory LS equipped trucks is almost too small for a stock cam.

I didn't want to lose drivability further by swapping converters to a higher stall, too.

Swapped the new(er) motor in yesterday. First start went great, 60psi cold start idle oil pressure, 50psi hot idle, 75-80psi oil pressure at 2,000rpm. Very quiet bottom end.

One slight problem, spec'd pushrods for an aftermarket smaller base circle cam, so had compression issues across the board. Went ahead and ordered some 7.350" BTR pushrods, overnighted from Summit Racing. A stock 7.400" wouldn't have been an issue with an aftermarket cam with a smaller base circle.

New pushrods should be in on Tuesday, will take a half hour to swap out.

So what are the specs of the blown motor vs the replacement? Have you performed a full autopsy yet on the old one?

The old engine had 300-400k on it, a lazy light ticking lifter and was just tired. Most others would've driven this engine for another 150,000 miles.

The engine has been gone thru, resealed, new lifters, oil pump, timing set, bearings checked and milled 243 heads.

The old motor wasn't cammed? You had more 243 heads for the new motor?

Even a stock intake now. Perhaps you're thinking of my RCSB?

Don't think so, but not sure. Were the 243s on the last motor shaved? I could have sworn you did the TBSS intake to this and had it dyno'd or something after the 243s, but you'd know better than me if I'm full of crap or just confusing your builds.
