02 steering box

I have a 02 1500hd steering box that is way better than mine and everything looks like it will fit other than the shaft witch isnt a problem if thats all. Has anyone put later box on a 96?

Internal stops could be different. Might want to check it's angular motion compared to the '96.

Update, fit perfect. Took the old shaft and cut rag joint off, cut u joint off 02, machined a 2" long stainless shaft to fit real tight in both the u joint side and stock side, drilled a shallow hole into the shaft for plug weld, put it on with one side not welded and got wheel stright. Took it off and turned tig up high so get good penetration and all done. Shaft took about 2 or 3 hour counting putting it on and taking it off, box less than a hour

Yes, its responsive and only slack now is idler arm. May see about putting the 02 idler also
