That sounds awesome L31! Are yougoing to test the setups on the Dyno?

I'm still learning on engines thanks to this forum, but does the 383 require machining? Like, can youget a 350 from the junkyard and swap the 383 crank? Assuming the engine is good to begin with. I think I saw a video where the guys removed some material for crankclearance, but seems a DIY job with a die grinder.

I see good 350s all the time from as low as $200-$300.
I bought a fully machined block. Checked it over real well and went from there. My aftermarket 6" rods with cap screws would have actually required less grinding than was performed on my block.

Will see the chassis dyno and probably some runs in the TMCC bracket races. The van is pretty dang consistent in bracket racing and it has come close to winning its class more than once years ago. I slept at the light once and broke out a few times in 2nd and 3rd round eliminations. I ran it in stock class once upon a time.

My guess is it will probably end up in "Super Street" class this time around. Usually starts at 8.90 and quicker in the 1/8.

I am adding another feature to this setup to help with power and efficiency. Going with a street style Meziere electric water pump.

Works with the newer 1 meg PCMs you would find in a 2003+ truck. Those have flex fuel capability right out of the box without having to swap to a flex fuel operating system that will not run a L31.

So I have alsp realized that my 255 lph @ 58 psi pump is no longer going to cut it. With the large Magnelli Marelli marine injectors at only 43.5 psi it was flowing alot more fuel than its 255 lph rating. Building my own boost a pump using a DC/DC converter regulator that will boost fuel pump (and ignition) voltage to 19 volts on demand. A relay will energize to switch both the pump and coil to 19 volts near WOT. The same microswitch will also energize a relay that cuts power to the alternator field wire to protect the alternator from frying the regulator at high rpm as well as return a few more hp to the crank.

L31,
What all did you port on the motor? The intake? Did your aftermarket heads come already ported?
I wonder much porting the heads and intake on a stock L31 will help throughout the power band?
Where did you find the 48 lb injectors?

None of the flex fuel 0411 operating systems will accept the crank signal? Even with "crank low res" selected in the system options?

Not sure on that one. I have not run an 0411 since before I was coil per cylinder. The Green/Blue PCM required very little modification to work in the 0411s place. Just has to be out of a DBC Van so that the PCM has IAC motor drivers. Since I was modifying the harness anyway I used the 02 sensor wiring out of the same 2003 Express 6.0L harness I robbed the coil per cylinder harness out of and used the 6.0L 02 sensors.

Yep...GMT800s had the 5.7L vortec in Mexico and Brazil up until 06 or so.

Isuzu box truck had the 5.7 until 03 or 04 here too. The 03 I saw was Blue/Green as well.
