Be careful with rockauto idler arms. I know you got Pittman. But ive got 2 ac delco from them that was bad out the box

I put 2 Moog idlers on that lasted less then 3 months. The third Moog is still on there 10 years later. No telling what comes in the box these days

I changed mine not too long ago and just took the bolts that hold it to the frame out. Left everything else on (steering shaft and hoses) and had enough slack to move it around.

For sure recommend having a telescoping magnet handy to retrieve dropped socket/bolts inside the frame rail. Haha

I'm not convinced it's any easier changing it in the truck. I also can't see how you are gonna get a torque wrench on that nut and apply 180ft/lbs with the box flopping around. Having swapped two boxes in a week (got a bad Delco out of the box), I could probably do the whole thing in 90 minutes now.

Slacken nut before loosening box from frame, refit box to frame before re-torquing.
