To cold for snakes. Get a cat. Some cats are good at it some kind of suck. Had a cat who would run from spiders and one who tore out the throat of a squirrel.

Still don’t know how that little f****r got in the house. But all the more reason to keep a cat.

I would recommend dogs too, but they are a lot bigger than cats though.

Dogs are busy killing possums or raccoons, an wife one son an one daughter allergic to cats so that's out. Just setting traps to catch em

I have a bunch of outdoor cats at home, and just saw one of them with another mouse in its mouth today. That's a good kitty.

Watch MouseTrapMonday's channel on YouTube, plenty of options that work much better than traps. The ole bucket trick, for example. Essentially you take a five gallon bucket, fill it maybe 1/4 full with water, drill two holes in it at opposing ends, put a rod which will spin freely and then put peanut butter or something in the middle of the rod. Oh yeah, get a plank or something so they can reach the top of the bucket. Place this contraption near a wall and let it work over night. You'll catch more mice than you'd ever want to see in one place. Works for rats too if you get a large enough bucket.

Where I used to live, my last Dobie caught 3 rats & killed 2 of them. Big brown wharf rats. 3x the size of the smaller black farm rats out here where I am now. 1st one squeeled when he grabbed it & he dropped it. Gone. Hit the ground runnin'.
The next one's weren't so lucky.
He'd sit in the backyard & stare, totally focused on the hole in the neighbor's retaining wall where the first one disappeared into, for hours.

That sounds like the rats they had at the store I used to work at. These bad boys were about 2' long not counting the tail. Glad I don't work there anymore!

My truck is in the "yard" as I finish putting back together... It's been a couple years, and this spring (or whatever they call that mess back in march/april) was the first time I had field mice in the truck. I pulled the cover off one day, opened the door, and there was this little grey mouse sitting up and looking at me next to the floor shifter. I said "hey, this is my truck... get the hell out!".. Didn't move a bit.. I guess if it could have talked, it would have said "Hey, close the door... it's cold!".

Anyway, I shoo'ed it out, and got busy figuring out how it got in... Turns out they got in through the heater core by way of the intake under the cowl cover (that black plastic cover under you WS Wipers). Slid the heat temp to full (closing off the path around the heater core), and shut off the side vents... Cleaned out 1 fresh nest under the dash (they didn't have enough time to do any damage)... and have been uninvited mice free sense.

Oh, and they filled my hood and top of motor with about 200,000lbs of acorns.. Shesh!

Sounds like you have squirrels as well as mice, LOL.
