Welcome to the forum, nice truck. I put my 97 ECSB in the local car shows all the time. Yours should get a lot of attention like mine does.

Just watched the video, your truck looks like it just rolled off of the assembly line. I did want to see the interior though. as clean as mine is, you can tell I drive it. Yours looks dealer new. Very nice truck.

Hello everyone!! Here is "Ole Red." I have owned her since I bought her brand new back in Aug 1997 in Oklahoma City, OK. She was my dream truck back in college in the early 1990's. She is a registered 1998 Chevy Truck "Legend" with 115,000 miles on her and has served me well pulling my boats, hauling general items and getting me to my favorite hunting locations over the last 23 years. Recently, I noticed she started getting a lot of surface rust on the frame and I accomplished a complete 7-month cosmetic restoration on her in 2019. She is now one of the finest original GMT400 Z-71 Regular Cab Silverado trucks in the country and is still used to haul and pull the boat, but only on sunny days. I will also be entering her into the occasional car and truck show where I am confident she will win some awards. Stay tuned as we get closer to the summer months. I will be posting multiple videos and slide presentations of the restoration process. For now, here is a link to a you-tube "Teaser" video showing her post-restoration as well as a few photos. Thanks--Dave

Good god man, mark this NSFW. Didn't think they allowed **** on this site!

All joking aside, this is a remarkable looking truck.
Jglew82--LOL--that is so funny--I have always considered photos of her as **** also so I needed to be cognizant of which photos I post. I have quite a few where she is muddy from hunting trips so I'll post some of those too.

Very nice! Brush guard looks sick. :headbang:
98chevy2500SS--Yes, I love the chrome brush guard and sidesteps. A lot of the younger crowd don't like that but the old-school part of me loves the chrome! I've had the brush guard on it for over 15 years and the this is my second set of side steps after I sold the first pair to one of my friends years ago.

Great looking truck. Welcome to the forum. Now we know who to call on when we are trying to figure out what is "original". Some of our trucks have been messed with so many times that it is hard to tell what is original and what is not. Looks like you are driving a rolling reference !
Eveready--thank you--it is great to be a part of the forum with other GMT400 enthusiasts. Yes--she is original including the paint, the windshield, engine and transmission. A lot of the trim (side trim, Z-71 stickers, mirrors, window belt strip, metal fender trim) are new because they were just weathered beyond refinishing. I also bought remanufactured factory rims because the originals were just too faded. I had a body shop put on the new Z-71 stickers and I told them to bring up some photos and take measurements to ensure placement was as close to factory as possible. She turned out beautiful--almost like a new vehicle off the factory floor.

Nice pickup! Very cool to be the original owner.

Your pickup is also my dream configuration from high school. White on blue interior would have been my pick, had I ordered it...and a 5 speed.
Outlawdrifter--yes--it is awesome being the original owner. It is very rare to see that after so many years. Typically, they have changed hands multiple times at this point. I will eventually hand this one down to my nephew to keep it in our family. He is the only boy in our extended family, the remaining five are girls. Like I said, it was my dream truck in college except I originally wanted a red step-side instead of fleet-side. I ordered that exact truck in 1995 but the broker was unable to deliver it after several months. I saw this truck sitting at a dealership in 1997 and pulled the trigger and drove it home the same day. The rest is history!

Absolutely awesome, now tell the 7 month frame off resto story! Well done sir
BonetockK1500--I love your name!! Thank you for the post. I have upwards near 100 photos and about 12 videos of the restoration. I am trying to figure out how to post them. I think I'll put the photos in a few slide presentations with some narration. Give me a few weeks to put those together and I'll post it under "Offroad Builds." Also, my restoration was not actually "Frame-off." It was more "bed-off" and then I jacked the cab up on each side separately to get to the top of the frame. It worked well and was much easier then removing the entire cab which was well beyond my capability, especially at home.
