i have not installed my C notch yet, and am running a 6" drop. I removed the bump stops attached to the frame and have a good 2-3" of space. I have 4" dropped springs (bell tech) and 2" front leaf hanger (i even used a set of 2" dropped shackles but set for 1") then used a new set of air shocks to get it level. Front is dropped w/ a 3" dropped spring and 2" bell tech spindles. Running on 20" Foose rims. I don't hit the frame at all and am not in a hurry for the "C" notch at this time.
There's always that one guy...

with a flip kit and no notch, you can get away with it BUT... the second you throw any weight in/on the truck... passengers or bed load, its gonna bottom out the axle on the frame. Unsafe and damn right scary if you ask me. Measure twice, cut once and check your notch every oil change and you will be fine!

You believed in Santa the first 6-7 years of your life, you can believe in yourself for a couple of hours to install a notch!

I don't have a flip kit. I am running Bell Tech 4" dropped springs which keeps the axle below the leafs. I also have 2" dropped front spring perch. The rear was not level with the front, so i removed the rear "stock" shackles and re-installed the two inch dropped ones, set on the 1" mark. I have about 3" of space between the axle and frame. I don't plan on putting anything in the bed and I have bucket seats so I can only carry one passenger. I've never felt the rear axle touch the rear of the frame in any of the driving I have done, but I do hit the front tires on the inner fender wells all the time. When I install my 00 GMC front sheet metal, I plan to address the inner fender well issue.

When you say the front spring perch, are you referring to hangers? How do you like the belltech leaf springs? I have the hotchkis leaf springs and love them.

FWIW I figure mine is about an 8-9" rear drop which is about as low as I think you can go without major mods. It has been flipped, 1" blocks, and 2" shackles, had to do a above frame/below bed "notch" which is pretty labor intensive. It will still bottom out on severe dips and bumps but the ride is decent. Also had to use shock extenders of course.
Front is drop spindles with QA1 coil-overs
Good luck

Does your truck still have the 454 in it? Seen the gauge cluster on the pillar. Any mods done to the engine?

Yep, still got a boat anchor up front for power, its got a small cam, headers, 3" exhaust, runs decent I guess but surely not fast by any means.
The pillar gauges were in it when I bought it, but Ive replaced them all with new ones.

Those ole 454s were definitely boat anchors. Lol. Don't worry my ole 350 is a dog too. 2.5 inch exhaust w/ glasspacks. Sounds good, but not winning any races. My Honda turbo six speed manual blows the doors off of it.
