At carquest we used to turn them for 6 dollars each, that was 10 years ago, doubt it has went up much. If you were closer to me I would turn them for free for you on my brake lathe.

Only costs $10 a drum here at a local shop and I’m in CA! Try troubleshooting a little more. Check the rear brake cylinder. Bleed the brakes. And check the rear adjusting screw to make sure it 1: on the right way and 2: in the slots still. Again I don’t know much but those are other options

So all this is proving to me is buying auto parts online is stupid. You have a problem locally you walk back in and get back on road same day. Now your stuck arguing with some moron that knows nothing about auto parts just pushes computer buttons. Get them local and stop being a cheapwad. Customer service is worth way more than the savings you get from RockAuto.

cheapwad? wow thanks. I've bought 4 sets of rotors/drums from rock auto through the years and this is the 1st time I've had an issue. $16 a pop turned at the local Napa and problem solved.

and as far as some moron who knows nothing about auto parts, when was the last time you were in a Napa / Oreilly's / Autozone? The world is full of them, they aren’t all at RockAuto

also, fwiw, I work 70+ hrs a week. In order for me to get to a auto store I would need an act of congress 1/2 the time. I'm sure they employ some very intelligent people, but sometimes its just easier (and I get **** done) if I pull open my phone and order my parts. Besides, with all the oil, filters, tools, and other parts (not including the brakes sets I just bought) that I've bought from them through the years, they do ok by my checkbook

Local shops can get bad parts just as easily. And at least Rock Auto carries nice parts in addition to the cheap parts store lifetime warranty junk. I've been buying parts online for over a decade at this point and have yet to run into a situation where I wished I would've bought local.

Rockauto has been great for me so far, but you got to know exactly what your getting and the super cheap parts are that way for a reason. I usually get acdelco for the price of the Chinese stuff available at Napa or Autozone. It's possible that the rotors need to be turned right out of the box. I've run into this same situation a few times before usually with duralast parts.

If some one is charging you 150 bucks to resurface drums RUN!!! .You can buy replacements for less.

I checked into getting my drums turned at a commercial shop a few years ago. I figured they'd be the best to do it, since they likely do it more often than the DIY geared parts stores. They wanted a lot of money to do it, and I used them for our work vehicles. I don't recall the price exactlt, but I think it was about $75. I never got it done.

I've been nervous about giving someone my drums to turn since they're huge, and I'd rather not have some young parts jockey ruin them, only to tell me "sorry, they weren't saveable, but we'll sell you some new ones for $$$". I've got a 1-ton so the drums aren't light or cheap.... the Saturn on the other hand, has drums that are tiny and dirt cheap.

Well guess I am spoiled as a small business owner that builds relationships with other small businesses and gets customer service. I work probably close to 60 hours a week, serve in the National Guard amongst other things so I know all about having no time.
Sorry for the cheapwad comment, but everyday I have customers showing me pricing online for companies that do nothing for the local economy or donate to schools or provide gifts for silent auctions. Keep buying online, but dont complain when a shop needs to charge you money to fix an issue you created ordering parts online.

He had a legitimate complaint, A shop wanting $150.00 to surface a set of drums. This is one of the reasons that folks are shopping on line.
Not every one on this sight is a business owner, many are every day folks that like/prefer to work on their own vehicles. Also local parts stores do not always offer the best prices for automotive parts to customers that walk in off the street OR have them in stock. Most times in order to get better pricing these local parts stores require a business account or a minimum monthly purchase amount., another reason folks buy online.
