Electric fan sensor location

I got one of the thread in e fan temp sensors for my dual 14" fans. I was thinking the hole in the bank 2 head. It's a 210 on, 170 off I think. Don't know of another place for it, what are my other options ? 0411 swap coming soon and don't wanna go crazy making this work when the ecm will control it soon but don't want to redneck em on the whole time truck is running,need the heat here in the UP.

I could be wrong but I’m thinking it should be in the tstat housing. The cyl head temp is never going to be 170 while running so your fan is going to be on the whole time and it doesn’t need to be.

Mine is in my thermostat housing. It works grate there. I did my conversion IDK maybe 1.5 years ago.

Well my only worry is that sensor on the housing feeds the ecm lots of very important info, like when it reads cold the ecm sends more fuel, and through a round about way it even tells the trans when to shift. Alot of problems we end up fixing on these vortecs are bad sesnors on the housing or corroded plug for the sensor. The sensor on the driver head is for the temp gauge ( I think) and don't wanna lose my temp gauge. And sorry it's a 210 on 195 off sensor.

Do exactly what kennythewelder showed you there. That’s going to be the BEST way for your fan on off switch to function. The ecm when you do the 411 swap will use the temp sender that’s in the intake just to the side of the stat housing to do the same thing plus all the other controls etc. the side of the cyl Head is a bad spot for an on/off switch off switch. The temp does not vary much nor do you want it to.

Sonim gonna have to get a new housing cause mine doesn't have a bung in it, wanted to cheat and pull a plug out and jam the sensor in but that's how my luck is LMAO. Gonna put em in tomorrow and use a switch untill I get a new housing I guess. I have no shroud now ND it's cold out so not alot of woreies

I need one of ur shiny ass housings with a bung welded in like URS! I KNOW you made that one, even if I find one it won't look half as nice as URS does.

Thanks. I will be honest, its not hard to do, if you do it before you install it. A bench grinder, with a cotton buff, and some white jewelers rouge, and then some white diamond metal polish buffed by hand, and you good to go. I removed my idler pulley and did that to it, it was very easy to do. Everything else you see was done on the truck. That make things a challenge. Oh and everything you see, is OE, not chromed. I polished every out everything myself.

A bench grinder, with a cotton buff, and some white jewelers rouge, and then some white diamond metal polish buffed by hand, and you good to go. Yeah it's more work than I'm willing to do but hot damn it looks good! U welded the bung into your housing tho didn't u? Can't find one with it already in for my sensor already done and I definitely don't have the time to make one, may end up just getting an adjustable one that goes into the find of the rad till I get time to do the 0411 swap. Was looking for an easy setup for now but not gonna happen

Yes, but summit racing has them. You have to type in water neck, not thermostat housing. check out MR Gasket 2557 part number. Not 100 percent sure if thats the rite one or not, but I think thats it. So type in water neck mr gasket 2557 on summit racing sight.
