Wiper mod

Dixiepc did you use the 02 wiper arms or modify yours? I have a 93 and would like to do this mod.

'95+ uses a different arm than the early versions.
They have a stiffer spring which holds the arm tighter to the glass & they also park lower on the windshield.

Don’t they have a nut that holds them on? My truck does not have a nut.

Direct swap. Plug-n-Play.
Without modding the arms, the biggest blade I've found that works is a 19". Factory size is 18". The 19's just come up to the top of the glass without hitting the body.
I've run that size for years & they don't skip.
But, West Coast RainForest here. I go through 2-3 sets of blades a year. Everytime I change the blades, I'll go over the glass with some windex & #0000 steel wool.
Pull the cowl cover & grease up the transmission.
Make sure nuts & bolts are tight.
I carry a new circuit board in the glove-box.
Overkill? Maybe. Probably. But...
Annual rainfall = 50.5"/yr. Fifty-freakin' inches!

I’ve put 19 inch blades on my stock 93 arms and they worked fine. If I could put 23 or even 24 inch blades that would be nice. In order to do that the wiper arms would need to be shorter. Cleaning the windshield with the steel wool works wonders against the skipping.

I ended up using the 95+ gmt400 wiper arms. Direct bolt on as sewlow stated but I wanted more lol

Sorry, I didn't get any notification that the thread had been active. I used the 2nd design GMT400 wiper arms. Drilled out the rivet, pulled the end out, cut an 1 1/2" out and welded it back together, pushed the end back in and put it back together with a new rivet. Been running it for about a month now and I love it. Wipes most of the glass.
