Well I gave my 98 tow rig some new life. Last spring I had a 383 stroker, holley sniper, rebuilt tranny ect all tossed into the truck. I tow my camper, quad & gear which wights in around 7k or so a lot. The 3.73 gears with my 285/75/16s just aren't cutting it. So after lots of research & homework I decided to get a set of 4.56 gears tossed in to really help out puling my trailer... Rather stay on the low end of the gearing as I can always upsize my wheels if I need too... Goes to the shop on Monday... looking forward to it!!!!

You will love it! Don't fear the gear. I have 5.13s in my Express van with the 383.

Yup thats what I've read, & researched. So we will see how it goes... worst case I'm feeling it's too much for what I want I can always upsize the tires like I said...

Love it... Don't Fear the Gear!!!!

Well dropped the truck off yesterday. I asked them to go over the truck front to back as well as a good go over in case I missed anything. Won’t be able to pick er up for a week & a half as I’ll be away at work. Looking forward to this soon to be awesome compliment with the 383!!

Cool. Is it your truck on your Avatar? Is it a K1500? I wonder why didn't they offer the 4.10/4.56 on the C/K1500? Fuel economy?

My '00 K3500 CCLB owner's manual lists the 4.10+ on C/K2500+ only. C/K1500 only went to 3.73. I've thought about re-gearing to 4.56 on mine, but don't know if it is worth the effort going from 4.10. I do like the 4.10 and 4.56 would be better.

Yeah, I went from 3.42 to 4.11 (according to USA standard Gear) and gained 0.3 of a second in 0-60 and 1/4 mile.

I believe 4.10 was a 1500 option in my 98 owner's manual, but it would have been rare and may have only been on some years.

What engine and trans do you have? What size tires? Do you tow? Do you carry heavy loads or a slide-in camper?
