Pioneer still makes a really nice one, the AVH-3500NEX. Also compatible with their AVIC-U280 GPS unit if you want stand alone GPS capabilities as well. Here's a link to it on Crutchfield, but as with most things if you search that model number on Amazon you can find them for about $100 cheaper.

Do you happen to know if this unit runs on an android OS? Kinda in the same boat as OP, as I dont feel quite comfortable enough to carve out a new wood panel to have a touchscreen unit, and would really like to have an android powered unit

Yup, that one does Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Which is nice because it seems like most of the other similar units on the market only do Apple.

EDIT - The OS on the unit itself is most likely a Pioneer proprietary software just to be clear, but it's compatible with Android and Apple products.

That's what I was afraid of, if I do anything by replacing the radio unit, I would want a unit with android OS, due to having an OBD2 monitor, and I hate having to have my phone out to read some live data when needed. But it's one of those things I'm probably asking too much from, but it's what I'd like to have

Yeah, I'm not aware of anything like that. Most of the Android OS head units I've seen are double DIN, have no CD/DVD capability, and in general are some cheap Chinese crap when it comes to sound quality and adjustments.

You're welcome!

I've had Crutchfield tell me lots of things wouldn't fit when they actually did. I think their system is a little too cautious sometimes. The only thing I can think of in this case is that maybe the unit is too deep, but I seriously doubt that.

I'm sure they'll probably help you out. If things are iffy ordering through the website I'm sure you could call them and order over the phone.

Also I just checked and the depth of that unit is definitely shallow enough for these trucks, I really have no idea why they say it won't fit. Everything looks like it should work fine.
