1999 5 spd 7.4 dies at idle

Phil no codes, and yes if engine is cold no problems.

I can let it idle in my driveway for ever if I havent driven it. May just be fine in my driveway, only seems to die if I am at a stoplight or somewhere I dont want it to die. No hesitation just falls flat on its face, no problem restarting.
I am having a problem with my 5.7 going into a low idle at a stop and occasionally dying. You say that it's fine in the driveway. I'm assuming that it's in park. Mine does well until it's in gear at a stop. Don't know if this info could be a clue. I'm not 'engine savvy.'

Mine is a standard trans, but if you figure yours out it may help me.

Ok, I have now replaced tps, and iac, still died on me. I have a new maf coming in a few days which I hope is the problem to finally solve this.

Do you know anyone with HPTuners or EFILive to do a data log for you? Sucks to keep changing parts and not resolving (I’ve been there tooooo many times). I bit the expensive bullet and got HPTuners, for both tuning the 0411 ECM, and for troubleshooting. Like 454cid said, try unplugging your MAF to see if it does same thing.

Well here's some ****, I looked up vin on TIS and truck had been brought in twice for new software to eliminate false egr stuck open p1404. I have not gotten this code but have replaced egr so my next thing will be to run without it plugged in and see what happens.

Unplugging oem MAF it runs the same no difference. Not better not worse.

ok following up finally. I put Gibson shorty headers on I got from a local junkyard and have egr delete. Not having any problem with truck dying anymore. No worries I will be getting tune, don't want any burnt valves!
