Not sure this is the right place, but I have an issue with my AC. 1997 Silverado ECSB 5.7. It works, but if there’s a diesel truck nearby, I get their exhaust smell in my cab. I don’t notice any difference when I push in the recirc button. The temp knob, fan speed, and defrost knobs all work as they should. Any ideas?

Are you sure it's not your door seals that are blown? Either that or the cabin air filter?

I don’t think my truck has a cabin filter. I doubt it’s the door seals, as it’s only when the AC is on. I also don’t think it’s the control panel as it seems to work fine. The recirc light turns off when switched to defrost.

Does the recirc door actuate? It’s between the blower and firewall, look up from the floor.

I bet the recirc door is not operating correctly.
Search recirc door on here to see plenty of ideas/fixes.
Things that come to mind:
- Door sealing foam bad.
- Door actuator motor not working.
- Door actuator arm unhooked/broken.
- Door actuator may need to "re-learn" it's stop/start position (not sure if that actuator does that... but read that some do).

Seems to be a common ussue.
