Drove it to work today as the parents needed the newer vehicle for doctors appointment. Get going down the highway and it starts vibrating, I’m like wth do I have a flat? Let off the gas and I get a loud pop like a backfire, get back on, it’s still stumbling, SES light comes on the truck lines and all is fine, SES goes off and I didn’t really have a problem after that.

As soon as I get paid a tune up and throttle body rebuild is in order. Tomorrow the injection pump exhaust manifolds are coming off and non injection ones are going on. Might also block off the EGR valve. I don’t have another set of intake gaskets or I’d pull the intake as I’m sure it’s plugged with carbon.

I’ve made worse purchases. I bought a Jeep Cherokee 4x4 earlier this year, my first and probably last, for $1500 at a used car lot, literally dropped $400 in it less than an hour after buying it. Was into it for more after a few months, then a bearing let loose in the transfer case.

I was done with it, wound up trading for a beat up S10 with no useable title and a 5 year expired tag that took me $600 to fix, drove it to work for a week and the slave went out. Took me a month to swap the clutch and components, never will I get a 4cyl 5spd S10 again lol. Then when it came time that I wasn’t putting 500 plus miles a week on my vehicles, I decided to sell that.. no one wanted it for anything above $700 so I lost my ass on it.

$600 I can’t complain, I haven’t really put any money into it yet other than a sea foam treatment and an oil change. It drove almost 60 miles home down the highway. It’s worth fixing up, and it really won’t take a whole lot to do it. I just need to decide if I wanna stick with TBI or just say screw it and bolt my Vortecs on and carb it for more hp and torque.
Been there, done that....many times.

We sound the same lol. I'm 26 and can't count on both hands and feet how many trucks I've wasted money on, or bought and parted out or bought and fixed a flipped for a profit. My dad got pissed at one point, I had like 4 trucks just sitting, all square bodies too lol.

So my brother was gonna swap the exhaust manifolds out for me today while I was at work. He started by taking the valve covers off, after disconnecting the battery obviously. Exhaust valve on #1 has a broken spring.. that's the source of the crap I dealt with yesterday and probably why it's smoked even after seafoaming it and all. SOOOOOOOOOOOOO, it's getting my rebuilt 062's, my Summit Stage 1 intake and an Edelbrock 750. I'm not gonna mess around and deal with all the **** rebuilding the TBI and cleaning everything and all that. It'll be cheaper in the long run and give me a bit more power to just go to Vortec heads and a carb.

Well I've been working my ass off as of late. Finally got my 401k check in, and it's mostly already spent.... my dad wanted a new handgun and I wanted an AR10, so I wound up walking out of my work today with a new Diamondback DB10 .308 and a new Glock 20SF 10mm Auto, caught both on sale so I'm happy. He decided he wanted to go big boy .41 Magnum stats out of a semi-auto after we decided on a Glock 41 .45ACP last night lol. Late father's day gift since I wasn't able to get one earlier this year.

I just ordered all the stuff to essentially top swap my 350 in the 1 ton over to carb and vortec heads. It's a mixture of USPS and FedEx so it'll be a bit before everything comes in. I'm undecided if I wanna order a grille now or not. It REALLY needs one, but I also need to tag it and transfer it which'll be $230 since it's so far out on date of notarization.

I will update once I start tearing into it.

So the doors have for sure been replaced. The driverside has a label on it with an entirely different VIN. Also IDK if I'm reading some of those codes correctly. 50U says it's Olympic White, but two other RPO codes give me two other colors for a two tone truck.

On the bottom line Is Wa L8624 U8624.That is the technical paint code for the upper and lower colors. Like the other rpo tag posted you will also see the Gm 2 digit rpo call out 50u. One color trucks may or may not have 50L in the sequence.

Always go by the Wa#

The engine has a block off plate on it for a mechanical fuel pump. So I ordered a Delco mechanical pump with return, a pump pushrod, and an install plate. I'll pull the fuel pump fuse and it'll suck through the fuel pump.

I've started tearing it down. DS exhaust manifold is off, passenger side is almost off, got the TB off, pulling the accessories. Already broke a bolt in a head but I'm not worried about that as these heads are trash anyway. It cooled down a bit so it's bearable outside now lol.

Got the accessories away from the heads, the distributor and intake pulled, all the pushrods and rockers pulled, and the DS head is just sitting on the dowels on the deck. I'm taking a break at the moment.

This turned into fun... I get to yank the 350 out of my 85 and re-gasket it and do everything to it.. it’s a roller cam 350 too.
