I like gaskets, pain to scrape off but you don’t have to worry about leaking cause you didn’t clean out he oil from the bolt holes. Just my .02

Oil gets in the bolt holes when you dump the oil, I would assume. I think I sprayed mine out with something. I did use a gasket... I had the whole kit, gasket, bolts, and cover.

That happens regardless of whether you choose to use a gasket or silicone only. I guess he was getting at the oil squirting out and preventing the silicone from sealing which has never happened to me. Now GM did put a reusable gasket on my wife's 07 Envoy, just like the reusable trans pan gaskets. That's a gasket I'd run on my stuff. I keep forgetting to look one up for the 7.5" Envoy so I can see about putting one on the Camaro if the bolt patterns are the same.

I think I might have some silicone around so I'll probably clean out the bolt holes first and then try that.

I've only had FF 14s. After that the SF kinda looks small. I would've thought 12 volt with first glance.

GM used rtv for most of their deals. That's something to think about when purchasing a gasket that GM never used

I'm pretty sure I scraped a gasket off of my 10.5 and the 11.5 definitely uses a gasket from GM/AAM.

Most seals on my 91 6.2 k2500, 92 G20 van and 93 c3500 6.5 TD were rtv. If I bought gaskets they seemed to fail rtv didn't. And thst is how they did it before rubber reusable seals (God I love those)
