I thought I would post my newest vehicle, a 1996 L29 C2500 with the 4.10 ratio diff. Low mileage examples are all over here in Oregon, but this one was the closest to me so I drove an hour and a half with a friend a few weeks ago and picked it up for a fair price. Its only got 110,000 on it. I was looking at diesels and v10s, but with the Fords you have to remove the cab to do any major engine work and diesels in good shape were too expensive for my budget. It looks nice with original paint, but really no maintenance other than a water pump, oil changes and a new set of plugs have been done. So I have some new parts here and plan on replacing all the fluids, hoses and the shocks as a first step. I have some Sonnax goodies to stuff in the 4l80e, when the pan is off for service too. Its used to tow a mobile chassis dyno around the Southern Oregon, Nor Cal area.

Here is a picture of my last tow vehicle, a 1995 G30 Van on the dyno after some upgrades.

Since you have a dyno, I'm guessing you're a tuner? Header back exhaust and a tune will absolutely transform that truck but you probably already knew that. Sooner is better than later to upgrade. Stock my dually was far too enthusiastic to downshift and rev its ass off, something the 454 is not fond of.

Thank you for the welcomes!

Thanks for the tip. Yes I looked into JBA long tube 409 stainless headers and the parts to build out the rest of the exhaust system. Its over $1000 to do it, headers to tailpipes in 409. Mild steel rots too fast for it to be even considered long term for the difference in cost. Right now the truck pulls the dyno and gear pretty well as is and the factory exhaust is in great shape. I only paid $4300 for the truck and have a few hundred into shocks and parts. I think it will do for now. Its easy to get carried away, but I have other projects that like my money more.

I'd just tune it then. My dually doesn't yet have a high flow setup, my plan is just to do shorties and replace the first foot or so of piping that's necked down to 2.5". I do have a Walker bus muffler and 4" Diamondeye tailpipe, but it's still stock quiet. Got a pic of the full setup?

I meant with it being transported. The mobile dynos I've seen just stay on the trailer and the cars drive on. I'm curious what it takes to lift this onto a trailer and haul the thing.
