98 Yukon rear end, new pinion seal leaks wtf

So i just did my pinion seal and t case while i had the driveline out.
The yoke appears to have a factory sleeve seal combo that rests in the seal in the housing.
I marked my bolt the yoke and nutt. I counted the threads. Took plenty of pics.i know i did it right but its leaking. I see the spray spots.

A lot of times when a seal is leaking there is play or wear in the bearing, and a new seal won't last very long unless you replace the bearing as well. In your case that would be the pinion bearings, do you have any up/down play in your pinion with everything tightened down? And, IIRC, they made 2 different seals for the 10 bolt (if that is what you have).

The rear end poured out oil when i removed the yoke, not sure if that proves anything, there didn't seem to be any play but i didnt shake it down unfortunately. I looked in there closely and figured it looked good. My old 10 bolt never leaked but lost a inner axle bearing. I geuss if its the yoke i still have my old axle as its rebuild able

By the way this is a hour after finishing the job. Maybe its left over crap on the yoke? I tried to spray it down good again. Looks slightly damp after a hour driving it. Theres little spray marks again. Not alot but some.
I guess i can live with it till it gets really bad.

Another thing is if the pinion or wherever the seal seats itself had a groove. If so the new seal will never seat, on things I have done in the past if there is a groove I sand it out with emory cloth, course the fine, and polish it slick. Not sure if this is applicable here though.

Didnt seem like it but there was sorta some black on the end of the sleeve as if seal rubber burned up on there. New seal didnt feel any tighter than old one either

When I replaced my rear pinion seal on my '96 C1500 due to a slight leak, i actually found the dribble was through the spline and out the nut area. Must be worn a little, When I put the yoke back on, I added a little bit of gasket maker on the yoke splines on the nut side. Sliding it on let the gasket maker built up a little on the spline under the nut and seemed to have fixed it.

Sliding it on let the gasket maker built up a little on the spline under the nut and seemed to have fixed it.

Yep done that several times on pinion yokes. Some black rtv on splines and behind the nut.
Another possibility is the vent is stopped up and building pressure. It could be tryin to puke some fluid out of the pinion seal.

There was definitely some kind of material on the splines it was white but it didn't look like RTV or anything. Mine has always been damp at the bottom of the housing and the sheild flange on yoke
