Found a few key pieces into dialing my truck in at the junkyard.

I think I mentioned this a while back, but me and my brother stumbled upon this truck a few months back, when I was fighting with the 0411 swap I think, and we really couldn't check it out due to the bees, spiders, and I think there was a snake or two around the truck.

Basic info, ECLB K2500 350/NV4500; but after I was able to get up close to it and look underneath and around it, I found some interesting stuff.
14-bolt FF and a meaty leaf pack,

And a quick peak in the glove box to confirm my suspicions.

GT5. That's the RPO for 4.10s right? And I don't see a G80 printed on there.

Some other odds and ends were a big 16K Reese rear hitch, a really nice looking Tekonsha brake controller, an underhood storage box and the tailgate linkage; the truck was a 98 so I guess one of the previous owners knew some GMT400 upgrades.

Now this truck is crusty. I meant real bad; so in the event I do go after the front diff and rear axle they'll both get full on rebuilds before they go anywhere near my truck.

You are correct, GT5 = 4:10. I would get it if I were you. :D You'll be happier with 4:10s over 3:73s.

Yeah GT5 is 4.10, the junkyard holy grail.

It's weird because of the options this truck had, bare bones interior, small block and a five speed, standard vacuum brakes but a full float rear and 4.10 gears.

I'd like to, I'm just scared about the condition of the axle overall, I think that truck's been sitting back there on the ground for a few years. Not to mention the pain in the ass that's going to be pulling the front diff and a few other front end components.
I'll probably ask about it next time I'm out there, as long as the tubes and pumpkin are solid I'd be willing to take a gamble.

Front diff is ****** easy. I pulled my diffs with over 200k, they're 290k now with nothing more than new output seals. The big **** survives, don't fear it.

Odd that in a day and age where liability is king that they would stack vehicles... doesn't look stable at all.

I'd wait for JB8 brakes. That truck has the drums mounted behind the hubs (JB7). From what I gather only the 3500's got the slide off drums.

He lives in the south, they're a bit behind the times in some places. It's a relief in some ways honestly.

Brody what kind of brakes does your truck have? Is it a full floater? Just saying, you could swap your brakes and **** over to a 4.10 diff like what you posted above.

I agree with @Supercharged111, I believe my 3/4 ton SF axle had over 300K miles on it, diff fluid and gears were still in very good condition. Its does take some abuse, I have done several burnouts with it lol. Yeah it does look like a pain in the ass in the spot it's in, maybe you could ask them to pull it, or ask them to lift it off the ground so you can get at it easier. Judging by how crusty it is, you might want to bring a torch and just cut the u-bolts, I wouldn't even try to unbolt them.

I know right, a couple of junk yards near me do the same thing, always afraid when there's a GMT400 under a vehicle that been placed on top, then I'm like "fuuuuuuuuuuck..." Then I look inside it and glad most of the parts are gone lmao.

My truck has a FF rear end, it's stud mounted drums as well. I've kicked around the idea of swapping hubs to the slide on style but I'm not 100% on anything right now.
I'm gonna swap to disc if I do anything major to the rear.
