Yup for sure! Can get a premium cap/rotor and a plug wireset $36. It's in the cart along with plugs.

I just seafoamed it, gonna let it sit probably overnight and then get in and romp on it down the highway lol.

Well I changed the oil, was black as hell. I found the Kickdown solenoid wires, or what I think they are, they're on the Driver side of the trans, cut and bare. I'm not familiar with the Turbo 400, most of my knowledge is Turbo 350. Rectangular 2 wire plug on driver side back part of transmission. IDK to where they go from the transmission, I've seen to carb or to accelerator pedal.

I charged this battery up yesterday, my charger/maintainer turned green once it was charged. Damn thing still acts sluggish when it's trying to start. So I'm moving onto the starter. I've got a vortec 5700 starter left over from the ordeal with my last truck. I'm gonna run down and get the proper bolts for it and get it bolted in.

Finally got that done.. she doesn't start sluggish anymore. Had to remove the protective cover from the bellhousing to get it bolted up. I wound up breaking the grille even worse yesterday climbing my fat butt on top to pop the distributor cap, which I didn't accomplish. So first big appearance thing is gonna be a new grille. I'm assuming a later one like the second picture won't work for the 1988-1993? Only big difference I can tell is an additional retainer tab on the bottom where the turn signal is on the top one.

Yeah, you'll have to stick with the 88-93

Nice progress made already it sounds like :)

Well patooie, I like the looks of the later grille but oh well. There probably won’t be another update for a bit, I’m fixing to start my new job and once I get cash flow back in I’ll start buying stuff for it.

I don't think that work it takes to convert over to the 94+ grill is super hard. Will just need more parts than just the grill so maybe put it on the list for future mods once cash flow comes in and she's running good? I'm sure there's someone on here that has done it and probably made a write up about it.

OK, so that truck is rougher than my $800 '89 RCSB K1500 SLE. Now I feel like I got a great deal because almost everything on my truck works, is original and there was almost no duct tape...

I'm sure all that stuff on your truck will polish right out! Have fun.

I’ve made worse purchases. I bought a Jeep Cherokee 4x4 earlier this year, my first and probably last, for $1500 at a used car lot, literally dropped $400 in it less than an hour after buying it. Was into it for more after a few months, then a bearing let loose in the transfer case.

I was done with it, wound up trading for a beat up S10 with no useable title and a 5 year expired tag that took me $600 to fix, drove it to work for a week and the slave went out. Took me a month to swap the clutch and components, never will I get a 4cyl 5spd S10 again lol. Then when it came time that I wasn’t putting 500 plus miles a week on my vehicles, I decided to sell that.. no one wanted it for anything above $700 so I lost my ass on it.

$600 I can’t complain, I haven’t really put any money into it yet other than a sea foam treatment and an oil change. It drove almost 60 miles home down the highway. It’s worth fixing up, and it really won’t take a whole lot to do it. I just need to decide if I wanna stick with TBI or just say screw it and bolt my Vortecs on and carb it for more hp and torque.
