Hello, been lurking a while. Just made a post in the intro section, time for a few questions now.
I picked up a 94 model from the original owners grandson, pics are in my intro post. The truck has shackles out back for leveling and runs 275/55/20 tires, I am not a fan of the 20 inch wheels.
My plans are to do a 4/6 and run period correct 15 or 17 inch wheels. Still up in the air about which wheel as the truck is black with lots of chrome. Seriously thinking about a C3 style rally, planning to go with 28-29" diameter tires. Wanting a staggered set up, maybe 15x8 and 15x10 or 17x8 and 17x9.
I read the sticky about backspacing which states no more than 4.25 front spacing to tuck. However, I see many post where guys run rims that are 4.5-5 front spacing and they seem to tuck.
Also wonder about the difference in 4" front drop set ups from different manufacturers. I want to do this once and do it right, it will be my daily. Not new to lowered vehicles but it has been a while (25 years or so).
I have searched and read but many of the threads are older so maybe there is a newer preferred kit for the 4" drop? Looking at the DJM site I see the spindle / spring drop and then the drop with a arms. Would the draw backs be turning radius and alignment problems with spindle/spring and maybe spring pocket clearance with the a arm?
Any insight you guys can give on backspacing and the difference in drop methods is appreciated. Plan to do the flip and notch in the back myself, figure as long as I watch the pinion angle and carrier bearing for issues all is good there.

I just did a 5-6 drop. I went with a 3"
drop lower A frame and a 2" shorter coil and a 6" flip kit
in back. All from DJM and had no problems with the alignment or the turning radius. I am using the stock tires and wheels for now (no money for 20s yet). Also case u were wondering I already had the DJM 3" lowers and uppers a frames. I have a ext cab with the 2 pc driveshaft and raised the center support 3/4 "

Good info Tony. I assume tires are 235/75/15? Any issues with clearance? Wondering if you had to trim or roll the fenders. Unfortunately I will probably have to do wheels and tires before I lower, the 20's that are on the truck now are pitted pretty bad and rub the sway bar when turning, they have to go.

No problems with the wheel clearance using the 235/75/15 plenty of room.
