i will def get the notch with flip kit. but like i said earlier, im just wonder how the guys get the flip kits on. the notch, im guessing will be similar to the one i did on my short bed years ago.

dont see how to get the bolt off the gas tank side. and notice a bunch of brackets/ cross members and what not- that look like they might be in the way or cause issues.

for now, im going to look for drop spindles. then i think ill turn the keys back up a bit. and think if i get the flip kit when i find the right one- saw a kit for 3+ and then read i could use 98 silverado flip kit- buck and change....
but no point putting the shackle i have on if i will flip at some point.

thanks for replying i do appreciate any and all advise.

on youtube ANDYs auto does a great video covering lowering an obs. Included is front drop for springs, flip kit, notch and a couple other keys i think but as for the flip kit and notch it is a great video. about halfway through they start the flip. With mine i did not take the bed off. i just unbolted the leafs, and picked them up over the rear brakes then set them under, used a lot of man power on the floor jack and moving around jack stands.

Nice! Mine was an all original one owner when I bought it. A much better starting point than having to deal with someone else's hokey 'engineering'! Lol!
Does that seat have a solid one piece cushion or is it 40/60?
...and a leather wheel, too!

I ended up getting a 5/7 drop, 22x8.5 front with 5.5 backspacing and 22x10 with 6.25 backspacing. what is the biggest tire I can run in your opinion? 255/35 and 295/30 or 265/35 and 305/30? thanks

Click 'by tire size'.
Once the factory size is entered, go to 'Manual', & you can start adding different sizes for comparing.

https://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator

My '98 @ 4/7 is on 20's. 255/45's & 295/40's. You could also enter those sizes to compare to a tire in 22" with a similaer diameter.

Having the tires close to the original diameter keeps from having to mess with the computer for speedo correction.
Look at the revs per mile when checking your choices.

so i did my front brakes today. needed brakes...
took a look at the rear to see again how hard the flip kit will be. and since i had shackles in the garage, i thought i might.
half way into it i stopped. tuned down the torsion keys a little bit. to see how it would look with the 20s. little bit took the front down a bit. i thought id drop the rear with the shackles... looking at the rear. im wondering how i would get the leaf springs out??? looks like the side with gas tank>>>no way to get that bolt off shackle without cutting. ??? is that what you guys do?? cut them out? if so, what size bolt and nut do i need to buy in advance.

brake job went well. but i dont like the way the front 2 tires stick out!!! guess spending a quick 130 on wheels and tires , yes got me better tires since the tires on the 16s that came with truck were cracked up from the truck sitting so long.
but i do not like the way the wheels stick out up front .
guess i need to find out what the backspace i need is.....live an learn. it dont look awful i just want to order spindles to take the front down some and now am afraid ill have issues.

not much action on this site?? or am i just posting all this in the wrong place??

Replaced the rear end in my 91 and now it sits about 2in higher in the rear with the same 235/75-15s. Where did I go wrong? It's supposed to be a 5/7 drop and now it's raked hardcore lol it also feels way stiffer in the back now..haven't got to drive far but it didn't ride like it used to...
