Well guess I added another thing to the list of stuff I want for my truck.

My dad picked up a camper shell for his Duramax today, he's going to repaint it to match the white but he made the comment about how it looked like the red on my truck. So a little while ago I joked around about how well it matches, and long story short, 5 minutes later we had the shell set on my truck. It didn't fit exactly, but it was close; and the color was a perfect match too! Even in direct light it had the same metallic flake to it!

The sun set pretty quickly so the last pic isn't the greatest. I guess I need to start searching for toolboxes that mount under the bed rail or something, I don't want to give up my toolbox because I need to store a bunch of stuff.

Actually doesn't look too bad, I'm not usually a topper fan. I actually used to have a black GMT800 topper on my 98 a few months after I bought it, it did look decent, but took it off since the truck was getting repainted, and to put the cab spoiler on.

I like my camper shell, but it's in serious need of a repaint.. It's been on there since about 6 months after the first owner bought the truck new lol. Does make hauling taller items a bit more difficult tho, if not impossible. I bolted mine directly to the bedrails rather than using the clamps.

If I get one I'll more than likely only throw it on during the winter months, I'd like to get a tonneau cover for it the rest of the time, probably just a cheap one that'll stay rolled up unless I need it.

That being said, I'm having a hell of a time trying to find a box that will satisfy my idea. I found a UWS 5th wheel box that's 58"x18" and 11" deep, I'd like to find a 12 or 13" deep one so I can still store an antifreeze bottle or two.

Does anyone know if Firestone or Air Lift makes brackets for Air assist bags that will fit the frame around gooseneck rails? All the pictures I've seen to make comparisons it looks like I'll have to do some cutting on one of them.

That being said, gooseneck is still a little ways down the road but I hope to get at least the bags installed at some point in the near future. Probably after I get the rear end converted to disc.
Old picture, but it still looks the same.

And plus, a better picture of my brother's truck.

What are your plans for converting to disc? Are you going to going with a kit or a new GMT800 axle?
I saw something by Cut Bros that allowed you to bolt GMT800 parking brake bracket and caliper to the GMT400 14 bolt FF.
Would love to get converted to discs but I don't want to lose my parking brake. Since my drums are still workimg I'm not going to mess with it.

There's a guy out of Tennessee who makes a practically bolt on disc brake conversion kit, Lugnut4x4 is the company name and I believe a couple of members on here are running the kit.
The big thing with me going with this kit is I also don't want to lose the parking brake, and he offers a caliper that has the provisions to hook them up once you swap.
It's a little pricey, but 98% of what I've seen everything has been positive.

What advantages do you foresee with the swap to disc brakes?

On a similar train of thought, does the GMT800 axle have a wider track width to help with the looks of the 8,600+ SRW GMT400’s (if you know what I mean?)
