I found this gem a state over from an elderly lady. It was her husbands truck and when he passed away 10 years ago it was only started and driven down the road, the rest of it life was spent in the garage. I was blown away how clean the truck was and I’m happy to report that it runs like a champ. First and foremost I’m changing the fluids and giving it a good once over. I picked the truck up for an awesome deal and I can’t find a spec of rust anywhere on the truck, even on the frame and suspension. The engine bay is clean enough to eat off of, the bed looks like nothing has been in it... Definitely stoked to have found this. This is the first truck I’ve owned and am excited to start on this.

The plans so far:
-regular maintenance
-charge the a/c
-replace all the speakers and put in a double din head unit with a back up camera/navigation/un-needed bells and whistles
-4/6 drop
-fuel pump (since the bed will be off)
-new tires and wheels (still deciding what style/size/offset to run)
-have new decals made for the side (these ones are chipping at the edges but I love the 90’s classic look so why not?)
-new cowl hood
-possibly a roll pan? (Need to do more research)

Once the truck looks and drives the way I want it to I’ll start researching into an LS swap.

First of all, congrats on the find. That really is a rare gem you found. I think it'll look awesome dropped, but I might be tempted leave it untouched since it is so clean.

Welcome!
I see a nice clean truck underneath all that stick-on stuff.
Definitely needs to be de-grampa-ized.
Don't think that the running boards will work with a 4/6. Can't see them lasting for very long with the truck at that height, anyways.
There's some guys out there that search for & pay decent bucks for that conversion fiberglass, especially if it's in good shape with no repairs or stress cracks. It's just not for me, though.
Painted tailgate handle & yet...black door handles. That's different. Wonder why?
I like that rear bumper. Chrome with the one piece top pad that has the little lip. Never seen one like that before. Looks smaller than the top pad that goes with the end caps I'm familar with. Stock? Off of something else? SUV?
Maybe related to why the T/G handle is painted?
Not criticizing. Just curious.
Keep the tailgate banner.
Drop it like a hot potato! HeHe!

That is a beaut! Love all the 90s stuff on it! :D Wish my 98 had skirts and custom graphics.

Never seen a rear bumper like that, unique nonetheless.

I like the stickers. Definitely agree that he should ditch the white walls. Other than the bug shield, I think I would leave it as is. That thing truly is a time capsule. Most of the OBS trucks have been beat to death or modded. So to find something this clean and this 90s really is a rarity. That thing is so 90s, it probably records episodes of Seinfeld on a VCR. lol.

Thank you for the kind words everyone! I’m not personally a fan of the woods trim on the interior or the side steps but it’d definitely be the ultimate grandpa sleeper once it’s swapped haha

I cringed in the 80's and 90's when people has us do this to their new trucks.
The bumper is aftermarket. The GM accessory bumpers had a GM logo in the plastic.
These trucks often came without rear bumpers, I can remember seeing them on the lot.
I also put a lot of DMI bumpers on for farmers pulling hay wagons.

That’s hilarious, I can only imagine! I can’t wait to start this build

That’s a clean looking truck. With the side steps, it would look better with some 15x10 rims and some 275/60/15 white letter tires and keep it at stock height.

Take your time with it. Don’t rip all the character off it until you’ve lived with it for awhile. A few subtle changes could really bring it together and not make it so busy.
